Pros

International students are from all different corners of the globe. It's a truly international school with some very wonderful students who tend to be knowledgeable, bilingual in other languages, sociable and curious about the world. The school grounds are stunning, especially in the Summer and Winter.

Cons

Students can be a bit lethargic and are not pushed to reach their full potential. The curriculum is inadequate, and because of many different reasons, the school lacks continuity. The school has many impressive toys, which are used for marketing rather than for educational purposes. However, the worst part about this school is the toxic work environment. Bullying is horrendous, management are inept, and staff are fired regularly. You constantly feel like you're treading on eggshells which affects the staffs mental health. Some staff are hired with a lack of qualifications and experience, and safeguarding is non-existent. If you want to progress as a teacher in your career, I wouldn't recommend this school. Your two options of survival at this school are joining the team and becoming an incompetent, backstabbing narcissist or going below the radar and hope they don't catch you. Anything in between will eventually get you fired.

Pros

Switzerland has excellent infrastructure - healthcare, transport, safely etc are all of a high level.

Cons

Unfortunately, this has comfortably been the worst experience of my professional life. Teachers are treated with no respect with the owners regularly resorting to bullying and intimidation against staff. The school does a fantastic job at marketing itself as the stereotypical high-end Swiss boarding school, and due to the attractive grounds this works on a superficial level. However, the quality of education being offered is poor. There are numerous academic staff who are in positions of responsibility who are out of their depth. Although, I could expand on the low standard of management, this pales into insignificance when compared to the general atmosphere of the school and the attitude of the owners. Morale is extremely low, teachers are treading on eggshells as the owners do not accept any type of feedback or policy which suggests that the school has any flaws whatsoever. I could continue, but all I would be doing is repeating what all the other reviewers have already said. If you want to get a teaching job in Switzerland please look for any other school in the country except this one. Although I am no expert in every other Swiss international school I have spoken to various teachers who work around the country. The consensus is that your salary will be higher, the atmosphere will be better, and you will have more professional development opportunities.

Pros

Location and views Some nice students

Cons

Pay is pitiful. Even top of the scale it is very low for Switzerland and the school relies on this ignorance of the high cost of living in Switzerland to give the impression of having a high salary. It is run by a family whose sole aim is to try and bully or intimidate the staff and sackings are a constant state of affairs at the school with high staff turnover. If the family do not like you they will find every way, legal or illegal, to force you out. There is within the school an atmosphere of fear on a daily basis and the whole feeling of the management is toxic. They will try and squeeze as much out of the parents as possible and everything is charged for and the workload expected does not even come close to the wages paid. Grade reliability is non-existant and the grades are fiddled regularly by the management to give the impression of a successful school. Some of the students were really nice but a lot of them had a sense of entitlement and lack of motivation. While the buildings are lovely to look at the equipment available is not great making it difficult to prepare for lessons. Timetabling is a joke. It changes almost monthly and timetables had staff working from 7:40 to 6 pm. The timetable you have can also suddenly change on the day and so it is difficult to prepare when you do not know what you are teaching. Pastoral support is inadequate and well being support for staff does not exist. During the pandemic, many people suffered mental health problems but the school's response was to discipline those staff members rather than supporting them. It is possible that you could be the flavour of the month with the owners but as many sacked members of staff have found you can stop being the flavour of the month and be out of a job. The management is an incompetent bunch of bullies who try and scare staff to stay in an underpaid highly stressful job. My advice? Do not touch any job offer from this school with a barge pole it will be the worst decision you have ever made
