Terrible pay. Terrible benefits. Terrible ownership. I wish I could give zero stars. The CEO, Jason Field, is an abomination of a human being. He treats people like he owns them. He's constantly being sued by someone for fraud or sexual harassment. He likes to think highly of his intelligence, but he is one of the most oblivious people I have ever worked for. He micromanages all of the wrong things. The only reason he is still in business is because he was in the right place at the right time during the credit card processing boom in the mid 90s.
His payment gateway is laughable. It is not up to 1995 security standards. He pays his technology staff in the low 40k range (at the high end), so he can't retain any employees that are actually any good. He is paranoid and disloyal. He has no concept of teamwork. He will take any opportunity to screw someone over to either save a dollar or to save his easily bruisable ego. I've never met someone who could get so butt-hurt over such small things. He must have been made fun of relentlessly as a child (speculation).
I highly suggest, to anyone who isn't completely desperate for work, to overlook this company as a potential employer.
Because of my position, I rarely had any problems with Jason personally, however, I saw him walk in and berate people for small mistakes regularly. Bullying his employees is clearly a tool he uses to make himself feel better for other inadequacies or problems in his life (of which there are many).
In the time I was employed at Instabill (less than a year), 80% of the company turned over. Read that again, 80%. It's not as though they had all been there for a long time. More than 50% of them were there for less than a year, and over 75% were there for less than two years. There are now 3 people left in the company who have been there for more than two years, and most of them are either working on finding new employment or they are hoping to get fired.
Working for this company is a mistake. I highly recommend avoiding it.
