      For a certain type of developer

      Pros

      Innova is a great place to work if you are looking for something lowkey. Their PTO/telecommute policies are the most flexible of 5 companies I've worked at by far. Work load is below average. Many developers actually work around 25 hours per week. It is a great place to relax if you have a busy life outside of work. The people here are all very friendly.

      Cons

      Pay is below average. Technology is outdated and limited to Microsoft products. Don't plan on getting a significant raise unless you ask. Promotions come largely on a fixed schedule. This is not a place to work if you are looking for a fast pace, both in terms of work and career advancement.

      Thank you for your feedback. All positions, current and posted, are full-time, which indicates a misconception about some of our work schedules being only 25 hours. Developers, like all employees, set a regular work schedule, while being offered the flexibility to modify their schedule in a given pay period to accommodate appointments, e.g., medical, or dental. Agile teams working together daily keep work balanced and efficiently moving with expectations of either increasing or sustaining productive velocity. The concept of someone deserting his team mates and/or malingering while others carry an increased workload doesn’t match our culture or the drivers of our successful employees.

      Executive Management disconnected from Project Staffs.

      Pros

      There are some extremely talented, dedicated professionals that work here. They go the extra mile as a matter of course and deliver added value on nearly every contract the company holds. The Training and Readiness niche the company serves primarily to the US Government is very rewarding work as you can see the results throughout our customer base and they are truly meaningful. Fantastic project teams that make every work day enjoyable makes senior leaderships lack of support that much more tragic.

      Cons

      The company's leadership means well but they have lost focus on their core competency. The vast majority of revenue is from DOD contracts but the executives have become enamored with IOS development and potential commercial work. The existing Project staffs are left to basically fend for themselves as leadership focuses their efforts elsewhere. The mantra "employer of choice" is espoused by management but every opportunity to live up to that standard is missed. There is also a boys club mentality throughout the company, meaning if you are not a developer you are a second rate employee at best.

      - Great life/work balance - Benefits are decent - Employees are nice - Leadership training opportunities

      Cons

      - Very stagnant in growth - No opportunity to grow in your career - There is a lot of favoritism towards men and people that have been there awhile - There is leadership training opportunities, but you realize quickly that the organization truly doesn't practice what they preach - Very little autonomy - Old school in the way they practice performance, more around accountability and reporting versus career development and growth - even though it is presented as the latter
