Pros

-growing company with high potential -typical medical device company benefits -intelligent coworkers

Cons

-cliquish -unethical business practices -do not give two weeks notice Infraredx is a growing medical device company started by an inspirational, Nobel-prize winning physician. The corporation has the potential to become wildly successful in 2-7 years if they can reign in some of their unethical business practices. I worked at Infraredx for approximately a month as a Regulatory Affairs Specialist, at a salary of $98,000 with two extra weeks of vacation. Unfortunately, I had to leave the company due to the impending relocation of my wife. Infraredx employs plenty of highly intelligent, young, successful individuals. Regrettably, this also tends to make the company much more cliquish than most (think high school cafeteria lunch tables). Ethically speaking, there are certainly some growing pains. Consider the following before accepting employment: 1. According to my interview notes, 3/5 interviewers specifically mentioned that the company was making a conscious effort to “go young.” 2 interviewers prefaced the comment with “I don’t know if it’s ok to say this in an interview or not…,” so we know they weren't just referencing the young age of the corporation itself. 2. Medical device manufacturers who distribute into other states are required to have a wholesale distribution license in the state into which they distribute. Make sure to check Infraredx's licenses to distribute into other states by checking those states online search (via their board of pharmacy) 3. The physician payment sunshine act is a federal law which requires medical device companies and others to report payments or compensated meals/travel to physicians, hospitals, and others, no matter what the payment is made for (e.g. research). Be sure to check the CMS open payments website on September 30th, 2014, in order to see which payments Infraredx is reporting. Then check that against the list of (paid) research Infraredx lists on its website. 4. Lastly, before leaving the company, I in good faith gave two weeks’ notice. In response, they let me go the same day without pay. According to my supervisor before I put in my two weeks, I was not the first person who put in two weeks only to be let go without pay. Lesson learned: DO NOT GIVE INFRAREDX THE COURTESY OF TWO WEEKS NOTICE. LEAVE THEM JUST AS HIGH AND DRY AS THEY MAY CHOOSE TO LEAVE YOU. Again, Infraredx is a growing company with unlimited potential. I just hope they do the right thing.

Pros

Great team to work with, everyone is super helpful and the collaboration is amazing. For a small company, the amount of work that is able to get done because of well efficiently everyone works with each other is amazing. Company treats people like more than just a number.

Cons

Smaller company so resources might become a little constrained when everyone is busy.
