Pros

There are a number of smart, talented, cool people there, but I'm at a loss to recommend anything specific about ICR as a company.

Cons

I have never had an experience like ICR, and I hope to never encounter a workplace as toxic for the rest of my life. As a PR person (not IR) I was quickly rushed into the position, with my hiring manager threatening to rescind my job offer if I didn't start before giving my previous workplace a full two weeks notice. Assuming that was an isolated incident I still took the job, only to be met with an absolutely shocking lack of professionalism at all levels. First and foremost the office is a disaster. Bland and quite, every employee is separated by high cubicle walls, discouraging any human interaction or community building within departments. There is no accountability for workload, with people often pawning work off onto junior staff members only to take the credit, thereby making the junior staff look incompetent and lazy while they do the vast majority of the work. This all feeds into a high amount of favoritism, shielding staff with the right "attitude" from any criticism, regardless of their actions. Lastly, there is no work life balance. If you're not glued to your phone at all times you're going to be spoken to, regardless of whether you're on vacation, at a funeral or deathly ill. Meanwhile, HR is totally incompetent, often going as far as to deride people with serious issues regarding the workplace. HR is supposed to advocate for the employee, not the bottom line.

Pros

I guess the HR department asked a few long term employees to please write some good reviews to balance out the plethora of negative ICR ones. It's filled with backstabbers and of all the teams I only saw one that functioned properly without drama.

Cons

This place is terrible-only the partners who push work off to the minions will tell you otherwise--they have a financial obligation to keep up the charade. They are also NOT a full service PR firm---they tried but the guy in charge of it was a total neophyte who thought he knew everything and was always "Traveling for work" but all he did was belly up to the bar for client dinners and repeat the same rehearsed script. I reject the notion that those who write reviews are disgruntled--most are professionals who never encountered one professional grievance until they hitched their wagon to ICR.

Pros

Free bagels? Pretty much it.

Cons

Too many to count. Listen, ICR is an IR shop, and their IR people are good for what they do. They should stick to IR. PR is another story. It's a complete mess. The business leads are fantastically inept. The business is run like a mom and pop shop versus a real PR agency. They get business off of their IR clients and then lose it soon after because the clients realize they're in too far over their heads. They can't keep up with the big boys, and it's not a great learning environment for junior staff. It's baptism by fire and it's a churn an burn place. They're a one trick pony (you'll learn that soon enough if you make the mistake of actually going there) and the culture is downright hostile and scary. If you're looking to move your way up in agency life, look elsewhere, this is not a place to learn and succeed.
