ATLANTA: Bullies Masked as Southern Hospitality

Pros

1. To be apart of one of the top financial grossing interior design companies in the world 2. Good healthcare coverage

Cons

1. VERY corporate - NOT a fun and collaborative design working environment like they want you to think it is 2. TOXIC management in the Atlanta office; very high school, mean girls situation...and if you aren't their friend - you will know quickly. They make fun of people behind their backs/talk awful about all coworkers, belittle their staff and say inappropriate/demeaning comments all the time (especially in their "management"meetings) 3. The Atlanta MD's best friends (from outside of work), who she hired from her previous company, are under her management umbrella and 2 of them are complained about ALL THE TIME about their rude behavior, inability to work with and hostile working techniques...but, nothing happens to them and their positions because the MD doesn't report those complaints to HQ; so, any complaints about her best friends never go beyond her ears and instead those employees get huge bonuses and are praised and told to corporate that they are huge, valuable assets to IA (and why wouldn't they believe the MD?) 4. This is NOT a design office, I repeat: THIS IS NOT A DESIGN OFFICE - the only projects that come out of the IA Atlanta office are TI level work or supporting to other larger IA offices to continue or help on projects from them. Do not think you will work in this office and "design" or have fun, no matter how they might make their projects seem. It is production, production, production on a low budget project (paint and carpet) OR helping document/support other offices work.

gangster management

Pros

They have some tech company accounts. If you are technical architect, you have loads of work for you.

Cons

Gangster management, there little gang groups with in the firm that they protect their own interest and fire you if they feel like you are not part of the gang. They never keep their promises, you will never get promoted if you are not working on big and famous account. As a young entry level design at IA will get burn very quickly and long working hours without over time compensation. The worse part about IA is that they don't understand design, they are still a technical company that does other design company’s drawing as their core business. IA also has some long term gang members that has no idea about design and come to instruct you what to do.

Pros

Say, you came out of a horrific divorce or fleein a war-torn country, this place could be your reentry to a better situation.

Cons

Flaccid leadership enjoys unlimited spending sprees the firm cannot afford, while those below them bust their butts for thankless pay, long hours with no OT, cheap booze and parties and empty promises of advancement unless you are someone's golden child. This place experiences turnover like nobody's business. If it's quiet for a moment, it's really the calm before the storm. There was a mass exodus last month firmwide with staff leaving even though there weren't jobs waiting. They just wanted to be human again, which this place knows nothing about. If someone next to you keels over due to being overworked and stressed, don't be surprised if these people would walk on by or even over him. Lastly, if you're in this business because you love design, well, you may have worked hard on the most innovative project this place could possibly get, and the design directors and marketing forget to submit it for awards.
