Pros

best internet connection in the UK. Amazing colleagues.

Cons

Demoralising environment, Oh boy is the CEO ever a bully!!!!!!!!! She rips people to shreds, it's ghastly to watch. The only opinion that matters is the CEO's. It's her way or the highway. Surely a dictatorship! HR has to be one of the laziest, unethical, dishonest teams ever. Individuals of this team openly talk about staff members. Or my particular favourite, telling half-truths or exaggerating truths, or going as far as to blatantly lie. I suppose when you're gunning for a director role you need to give yourself some sort of credit. Redundancies are common as is re-structuring, creating a tense work environment. No one knows how long it is before they're given their walking papers. The office staff is like a revolving door. So far about 10 (or more) assistants and office managers come and go. And still Hyperoptic has not learned. They can't all be wrong...or can they?

Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback, it is always appreciated. I agree that we have the best internet connection in the UK and amazing colleagues. I am very passionate about the company and very proud of my colleagues who are smart and experienced individuals. I absolutely value their opinions and ideas. Yes, sometimes we have robust discussions and constructive conflict, and challenge each other – all because we feel immense pride in what we have created and know the scope of the opportunity and challenge in front of us. There has been a lot of change at Hyperoptic in the last year. We are growing at an astonishing pace and have increased the size of our workforce from 300 to 1000+ in a year. Because of this rapid growth it’s important that we constantly evaluate our operating model so that they are fit to deliver our ambitious plans. This does include sometimes redesigning roles and functions – just as it also means that employees have new opportunities to grow horizontally or vertically in their roles. Despite our new size, we are still entrepreneurial in spirit, and I think it’s important to keep hold of that. This does create challenges in how we work together and we are implementing a number of processes to help manage that. I am committed to being open and to learning, and welcome comments or questions at any time, on any topic. Thank you again for your feedback. I am sorry your experience with us did not match our goal of making Hyperoptic a stimulating and exciting environment, and a great place to work. We wish you well with your future career. Best, Dana (CEO and MD)

Pros

Some great colleagues who are over worked, under appreciated but looking to leave unless you change radically.

Cons

Lack of direction - As a business we have a 'Strategy & Transformation' team of 40 + people. You have to wonder what they do. Look at last year as an example, even 6 months into 2019 no team had their KPI's and deliverables agreed. Lack of Quality Leadership - Some of the best managers and heads of department we had who were regarded by many as inspirational, have all either got fed up and left or been pushed out as their face didn't fit with the new executive team. Even the Chief Sales Officer, whose team was one of the only ones to exceed their targets was pushed out, leaving an uninspired, demotivated sales function. Toxic atmosphere - In 2018 the company more than doubled in size, there was a buzz of excitement in the air which was palpable at our winter events in the UK and Serbia. Since then it feels as if someone decided to take away all privileges and question every penny spent. Leaders who manage remote teams overseas are restricted on travel. No more team events or lunches allowed. The winter event was non-existent. But it's OK to take the Exec Team on Jollies to Morocco, Barcelona and Austria. "Do as we say not as we do." The People team who were so approachable have morphed into an aggressive HR function to be avoided and feared. This team has been decimated with all their Heads of Department either quitting or being forced out. The previous HR Director resigned - the forth one to quit in 5 years. The CEO hired a new Chief People Officer who just doesn't like people, and it shows. This has resulted in a toxic work environment across the business where trust no longer exists. Fear rules, team members are afraid to speak out and it's become kill or be killed. Where teams used to collaborate, they are now forced to work in Silos. Everyone works way and above the standard hours, but as opposed to being forward thinking the company is regressing under new leadership with flexible and remote working being scrutinised and stamped out. The amount of people who are looking to leave is staggering. So many people are also off on long term sick leave with stress which has sadly become the norm.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. It is hard to hear that you feel people are not valued here. Of course we at Hyperoptic don’t think so. We are very proud of each other - from UK to Belgrade - and we hope we are building a community of colleagues known for their diligence, warmth, hard work and intelligence. In the people team we strive to be true business partners – and I would love to personally get an opportunity to tell you more and hear your concerns (anonymously or over a coffee). I am definitely in agreement with you about continuing to provide a better work life balance for our colleagues - the new time off benefits we introduced beginning of this year help support that. Growth and ambition brings with it changes, and changes can sometimes be perceived as negative – we as a company recognise that and appreciate that we won’t be where we are without the scores of great people who join us every day; and those who chose to stay with us. I am sorry your experience has been less than positive. From Hyperoptic we wish you all the best and I do hope you will get in touch. Regards, Naleena

Pros

Great internet Nothing else really

Cons

Honestly I've worked in many telecom companies but by far this has been my worst experience yet. Bully and intimidation project managers and managers have no clue what there doing so much politics it's unbelievable they sold us a dream no chance of promotion as this company is about who you know not what you know I'm not surprised if their all family and friends promoting each other. Any reason to sack you literally I could say so much about this company but there really not worth it and I do not see this company lasting very long either getting sued or being bought out by other more stable telecom companies everyone is so incompetent working for this company and all the high achievers have left or on their way out
