Stay Away. Toxic culture. Toxic CEO

Pros

Absolutely no pros. Stay away and don’t get dragged into this absolute mess. If I could give this organization negative stars I would.

Cons

1) Compensation and Benefits - This is an absolute joke. The company’s compensation is below industry standards and there are no benefits. The company led by the CEO will find almost any excuse to ensure that you’re not paid what you’re due. It’s extremely pathetic. The recruitment team led by the CEO miraculously is able to lure unsuspecting job seekers with false promises. However, the turnover rate here is a testament to the toxic work culture that exists in this company. Also, be rest assured that any ask for a promotion or hike in salary to be slammed down almost instantaneously affecting your own morale. 2) The CEO - The current CEO is the root cause of all the problems in this company. I’ve read a bunch of reviews here on Glassdoor about the CEO and unfortunately, every single one of them is true. He lacks emotional intelligence and is capable of making you feel extremely small whilst extracting every ounce of your time and energy. He is extremely unethical and lacks any real leadership skills 3) The Work Culture - The work culture here is extremely toxic and most of the employees working close to the CEO are driven to perform based on fear. The core work culture here is to extract the maximum from the employees before they burn out and leave. The only thing that matters to senior management is revenue and not the product itself or people. 4) Future Outlook. The future outlook for HyperionDev looks bleak: there is no clear direction from management on the trajectory of the company. My advice to future candidates interviewing at this company - Please stay away. Unemployment is much better than working here. P.S: Most of the good reviews on Glassdoor are written by the HR team

Pros

None, didn't work there long enough to experience any "benefits"!

Cons

Since leaving their employ, I have been following Glassdoor reviews and noting the PR department’s increasingly desperate attempts to counter the growing number of negative reviews by pressuring new employees to leave five-star ratings. Another recurring tactic (not just on Glassdoor, but across various review platforms) is their insistence that they are a "growing company." This claim often serves as a deflection when they have no valid response to the serious accusations made against them. HyperionDev was founded over a decade ago, yet much of its course material remains unchanged—many sections have never been updated since they were originally plagiarized from books published as early as 2005. Given all this, one might expect that the individual running the company would have gone out of business long ago. However, I must admit he is a resourceful operator. To all potential employees and students: steer clear of this toxic company and let it fade into obscurity. Far too many people have suffered due to the actions of a single individual, and this should not be allowed to continue. If you have the means, take action—file a complaint with the CCMA, pursue legal avenues to recover your money, or seek assistance from the labor court. The more time he spends dealing with litigation, the less time he has to deceive others. Stay strong, and keep up the resistance!

Worst company I've worked for

Pros

Very little apart from a selection of the staff and amazing students I get to interact with.

Cons

Despicable company. Terrible culture and unethical work practices. I've never worked for a company that is so driven by profit at the expense of quality and value. It has 0 regard for its student's outcomes and this is very obvious from the constant pressure to deliver against out-of-touch targets! They also have minimal regard for their staff. Concerns and feedback are quelled! And anybody who dares challenge their practices or behaviours is quickly discarded and eventually let go! If you think all of their behaviour is driven by lower or mid-level management you're wrong, the worst culprits are senior management and in particular the CEO. I've never met such an immoral and narcissistic CEO in my whole life! He genuinely should not be in the position he is in and find it astounding that he has no self-awareness to recall some of the behaviour he exhibits. Shocking! He is revered as this inspirational leader by the people who worship him and it is genuinely worrying the control he has over people. I would liken it to a cultish leader- very dangerous! The management genuinely has 0 appreciation for ambitious individuals and those who care to give constructive feedback. I've always felt very reluctant and discouraged to do so! I would love to say I've enjoyed my time here but that would be disingenuous so all I can say is that I hope they do better in the future.
