The management team at my store is severely lacking in long term planning/vision and is instead more focussed on the whims of regional and district managers. Because of these whims we were constantly on grueling night-shifts on which we were understaffed, not given realistic time frames in which to complete our tasks, and could thus never get it right. Before christmas we had only a few key members of staff who they deemed competent enough and whose availability was suitable to do these nightshifts and so for about 4 weeks I was doing 30+ hr weeks of the toughest jobs, getting attacked for not doing it right, and never leaving the store before midnight. I complained how the shifts were affecting my health and mental health and received very little alleviation. Their people skills are severely lacking and they take advantage all the time. If you have said yes once to, say, coming in on your day off they would now expect you to routinely do 6 day weeks and will guilt and bully you if you say no. They expect you to make sacrifices for the business, as i'm sure they do as managers, but we're just associates getting paid a little more than minimum wage: it's not our place to do so and we certainly shouldn't be bullied and guilted if we dare say no. Associates and team-leaders at my store have cried, in store in public, due to harassing negative treatment from management and that is appalling. There is a highly negative atmosphere and management culture and most members of staff i speak to feel constantly under attack.
