Not what it seems

Pros

I made a good friend while working there

Cons

Literally the definition of white feminism. Please notice that all of the positive reviews for this organization were posted in the same week-- most likely because the CEO noticed the poor reviews and asked her friends to write some good things. Also note that positive reviews are mostly from consultants and not actual staff that need to b around the CEO often. As mentioned in previous negative reviews, this organization is extremely toxic, especially to POC and trans/nonbinary folks. This organization is irrelevant at this point, but a sever case of founders syndrome keeps the folks who are wasting their time here from actually utilizing their skills elsewhere. You will not grow here, you will not be mentored here, and you may find yourself shrinking rather than expanding

Avoid at all costs

Pros

The mission of the organization is compelling, there is a lot of opportunity for networking

Cons

This is a VERY small team so everyone must wear many hats and there is no real system of organization. The executive director is also the founder of the org, and as such is EXTREMELY hard to work with. She does not take feedback well, even though it is the job of program directors and coordinators to provide feedback on programming. She would regularly make me feel incompetent even though I was fulfilling my responsibilities, which resulted in regular anxiety attacks for me. You will be overworked and underpaid and undervalued. This job is better for interns who can get in and out, rather than for someone who is looking to take root in a career

Pros

Some really great people work there. Can be exciting when momentum is flowing. At moments you can feel cared about as a staff person.

Cons

Read the negative reviews. They are accurate. You disagree with the ED or one of her in crowd, she will find a way to get rid of you. I saw nepotism, major HR violations and the very forms of disrespect the organization says it fights. Hiring discrimination is rampant because they hire friends or cherry-pick race/gender. Do not recommend, the toxicity isn't worth it.
