Pros

Great location. Stimulating projects. Talented, dedicated designers. Like minded coworkers. You will build a strong portfolio as a stepping stone with this company.

Cons

It's no secret that everyone in the industry knows about the "shelf life" at HBA. Long, completely unhealthy work hours, and very low pay, however, it's the price you pay to have this company on your resume. It's known amongst the company employees of racial discrimination in terms of unequal pay and promotion with favoritism towards whites. It's the way it is at this location.

Nobody should be holding in the type of anger that you are experiencing so please enter one of the open doors and speak your mind face to face. As a firm that employees more women than men, is more racial diverse than any other design firm in the world, and where the partners and associates are very diverse both in terms of gender, nationality and race, we do take offence to your racial and gender comments as well as some of your other undocumented claims. We would be happy to discuss your issues outlined above at any given time. As you obviously know, the CEO’s office door is always open and so is the door of the Director of HR. Since HBA is run by its partners rather than by one single person, you can also address the issues you feel you have with the partner in charge of your team.

Pros

They have great projects because of their global reputation.

Cons

Poor leadership. Greedy appetite and sales with severe understaffing conditions. Mistreatment to employee such as micromanaging, bullying and discrimination. Leadership with short sighted visions, unwilling to listen to situations and arrogant attitude. Incompetent leadership by local partner with only sales experience and no actual design experience, skills, sensibility and talents.

Pros

Fellow designers create a positive environment is the only pro to the company.

Cons

Very low pay, hostile working conditions, CEO only cares about the bottom line & does not engage with any employees, he doesn't even leave his office, doesn't know the names of any staff though to his credit, it is a rotating door. He is an accountant with no design background which is why the company doesn't care about the employees, only the profit the partners make. The overworked staff have no benefits or receive any training, there's no room or encouragement for growth. Reputation suits. They work hard and are paid very little, especially when the company boasts about being the #1 expensive firm, to which the staff reap none of. The basic benefits offered are HMO plan & 1% 401K matching. They are actually able to pay staff more, offer more benefits, even make the office nicer physically & mentally but instead choose to ignore the faults & make sure the partners receive hefty bonuses. Oh, and the joke is the partners all dislike each other & don't even speak in the same office space.
