Poor leadership and direction

Pros

Hendrickson allows you to grow your skills in the company if you are willing to put in the effort. They also have good technology for a mid sized privately held company. It can be a great place to work if you are in the right group.

Cons

1. The management is very poor. Everyone has an agenda and the fighting between directors is nauseating. The top leadership needs to make some changes on all levels. Just because you are a good engineer, finance guy or marketing person doesn't make you a good leader. Promote leaders and not on seniority or trivial accomplishments. 2. Not much room to advance once you hit the glass ceiling. 3. To many antiquated processes 4. Continuous improvement is talked about often but rarely implemented. 5. HR is full of very evil employees who only care about risk management only. They say they are "for the employees" but reality is the exact opposite. 6. The truck division struggles to launch new product. The fighting between groups slows all progress.

Pros

Unfortunately, no pros to talk about here.

Cons

1) Very dishonest people (management), they would make you promises in the first place and change their words later. 2) No work-life balance (They don't even like to talk about flexible work schedule). 3) The upper management at Hendrickson is being run by bullies and they talk to people crazy (screaming at people is a norm here), it is a very toxic work environment. 4) If you want to work here be prepared to get pushed to your limits frequently. 5) No respect for employees from the management side and Senior Engineers. 6) A lot of Micromanagement. 6) Zero career opportunities. 7) Below average compensations & benefits. No bonus and only 10 paid vacation days upon hire regardless of your previous years of experience or higher PTO with your previous company. 8) Very old school culture and work environment. 9) They don't value higher education or more scientific approaches for solving complex problems and bright ideas (from younger engineers). Simply, the management doesn't like any change and you would hear this from them frequently "We have been doing it this way for a long time and it works". 9) Don't expect to learn new and cutting-edge technology/engineering knowledge in this company as they are working on a +120 years old technology (Passive suspension systems).

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We read all reviews and try to get better from them and are disappointed to see that after working with us for over a year you have no positives to report. To address your main concerns please report them to your local HR team immediately. We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to harassment and bullying and will investigate your claims immediately. As far as our culture and philosophy we understand that we are not a fit for everyone, but we are proud of our 106-year history as an industry leader with innovation leading the way. Our employees are the main reason behind our success which is why we offer most salary roles the availability of an Alternative Work Schedule during the summer and the ability to purchase additional vacation days. At the Woodridge facility we also have many employee events like Office Olympics, Brain Games, Leadership Week, Hendrickson Escape Room, [H] Ted Talks, & [H] Book Club to keep work enjoyable and keep our employees growing their career. We feel this has been successful as we have had most of our leadership roles filled internally over the last 3 years with an overall turnover rate under our industry average. Again, we appreciate you leaving a review and encourage you to work with the Woodridge HR Team to work through your concerns.
