Thank you for providing your feedback about your experience and perceptions while you were at HHH. Every year, we conduct a comprehensive employee survey and this data doesn’t corroborate a “Toxic Environment”. However, we take all employee matters seriously and regret that you have a negative opinion about our accredited organization. Feel free to contact me directly if you’d like to discuss your concerns in more detail. Maria Hammer Director of Human Resources

Pros

Working with the kids is rewarding in itself, they are great kids working on moving forward from sad situations.

Cons

Some of the staff are unnecessarily hostile and aggressive, and provoke the kids into restraints rather than helping them deescalate. It's sad to see adults who are poorly trained worsening the ptsd symptoms of the kids.

Pros

Your coworkers will be your best friends. Working with the kids can be rewarding at times. There is a lot of PTO that you will never be able to use. Benefits are pretty good.

Cons

Very little upward mobility. Management never has a plan for major crises or events that happen - there was still no pandemic plan a year into quarantine, which put many staff and children at risk, and during the winter storm they told employees they had to show up or they would be fired. Then there was no plan to get them there or provide accommodations. There is a healthcare team, but none of them have ever had any medical experience. When you go to management with a concern or complaint, it is often dismissed or you are treated as a problem. When management thinks you are a problem, they will look for any possible way to fire you. Or withhold raises. Decisions do not seem to be consistent within the organization. Lord help you if you get pregnant. There will be no accommodations for that either, and you will put your body and your baby at risk every day. The children (ages 5-14) can be extremely aggressive, and you will not be provided with any help in managing the effect on your body or your mental health. If you get injured and can't work with the kids temporarily, management will not help you find work there that you can do to protect your body.

Thank you for providing feedback. Throughout our 127-year history, HHH has fostered open communication. • HHH announced, distributed and implemented our COVID-19 Safety Protocol shortly after the pandemic started in the first quarter of 2020. • In response to the recent winter storm and resulting power outage HHH: furnished rides to and from work for employees; paid for hotel accommodations; and provided extra compensation for our extraordinary employees that worked during this time. • Our broad new hire training program lasts multiple weeks and covers all aspects of therapeutic care for the children in our home. • Our excellent benefits package (including 100% company paid medical and disability insurance) ensures the well-being of our staff that choose to utilize these benefits. • We offer an Employee Assistance Program that provides mental health resources for employees. In addition, we’ve made our own in-house therapists available to employees during times of crisis. • Paid Short Term Disability leave is available for employees that are unable to work due to incapacitation. Both current and former employees are encouraged to come to me directly with their concerns. Respectfully, Maria Hammer - Director of Human Resources.
