Pros

While employed I was always looking for the pros...after a year and nine months the lack of too few led me to move on. Some co-workers and all the clients I serviced were for sure a PRO!

Cons

Where to begin? For a huge entity employing up to 150 employees and servicing thousands of local people one would think respect; gratitude and integrity would be important to the owner of this business; but not only were those things not important (in my opinion of the owner) but I experienced them to be nonexistent on all levels...making this an extremely difficult place to work for me. I took over jobs and duties when 2 other full time employees left-for countless amount of hours every week for over 14 months but then had my hours cut by 10/week just to save money; I re-structured a dying sales system into a profitable one and then was criticized about it's potential in front of co-workers and interviewees; I provided the very best customer service skills and the very best portrait work to the studio (the words of many long time employees...not mine) but was constanty being criticized for every attempt made to do my best; I was forced to cover for missed appointments by the owner due to lack of organization (or caring); I watched people be disrespected on photoshoots and unappreciated behind the scenes by the owner; while working toward increased sales and profits expected of me I was given less than capable co-workers to help accomplish these things-then insulted when trying to point out that they were holding back business opportunities; while working towards promised commissions numbers were never shared openly (hmmmm...not sure why a commission was never paid out???); I was expected to be creative and increase sales with the same equipment; backgrounds and props that were used for over 40 years; I often brought cool ideas to the table only to be insulted and laughed at; I was too often told "it's good enough" when orders were produced to an extreme substandard quality according to my 20+ year expertise...then had to try to cover it up when even clients noticed the poor quality; I watched countless times photoshoots go to the less than qualified while other ready, willing and able photographers experienced cut hours; everyone was micromanaged in an arrogant and condescending manner by the owner on a regular basis-even about things he was less experienced about. When giving my final notice my email account was closed immediately; without notification; and denied it was done intentionally...yet we used an email notification software to know our work schedule (that could change on a daily basis) and I was expected to finish out my responsibilities. I was in a position that often required or allowed me to interview for job openings and the comments made about the interviewees by the owner were often arogant and condescending. In the end I wanted to tell the interviewees "ruuuuun!"

Thank you for leaving feedback. My sincere apologizes if I might not have called you by name. We hire around 75 seasonal staff and I try extremely hard to get to know everyone personally in a very short amount of training time. (<1month) I have some excellent team leaders who coordinate, train and manage the seasonal staff and I truly hope you enjoyed your time with them. However, I welcome any additional feedback and encourage contacting me directly with any questions. Thank you, John Harmann-President, jharmann@harmann.com, 920-983-6600.
