Pros

The people who work at Gymboree are wonderful. It's because of the people and especially because of my team that I haven't left Gymboree.

Cons

We don't know or understand our current culture. We continue to hire extremely talented people and then have them leaving the company within their first year because they are so frustrated with our lack of investment in people and ways of working. Our turnover rate is significantly high and continues to impact morale. Our systems are antiquated. We change our direction at the drop of a hat without any good reasoning or understanding as to why. We seem to always be chasing as opposed to getting out in front. Leadership is rarely aligned and continues to ad work without resources which is why employees continue to leave the company.

Pros

I do not believe there to be any Pros in associating with this company.

Cons

This is one of the most bankrupt-figuratively and literally companies you could ever come across. Breaks labor and law rules. Stores are manned by the store manager for 4-5 hours completely alone. You are expected not to use the bathroom if you are alone during these shifts. Racism and sexism are abundant through all levels of the company. Men are generally not hired in stores, and minorities are treated like 2nd class citizens. Sister stores are useless and are supposed to be a resource but do not help. They will however gossip about other sister stores to management and Corporate. Payroll is nonsense. Stores are given bare minimum and expected to flip the entire store with 1-2 hours and maybe 3 staff members on hand. Speaking of the merchandising, 85% of it is hideous in all departments. None of it is fashion forward or competitive with other childrens stores. During the bankruptcy filed last year closing stores were treated like animal shelters. Everyone was in fear for their job or mourning the loss of their job abruptly the company did not care. It made stores that were remaining open ship damaged, dated, and trashed merchandising to closing stores and overworked staff on both sides of the bankruptcy. Pathetic. Unethical. Crude, Trashy company that should shutter all its doors and start with the higher ups and District Managers first. Speaking of District Managers-believe me when I tell you, that you have not seen incompetent and unintelligent until you have seen the DM's and SM's this company hires. Completely inept and unethical. The turn over at the DM level is gross. The treatment of employees is horrendous, and if you work here accept that you are in a desperate place, take your lessons and move on.

Pros

The team are largely nice, there are a few witches and a lot of dead wood. The location of the office is easy to get to and you can work from home 1 day per week normally.

Cons

The workload is unmanageable without working outside of core hours. There is a lot of dead wood, big egos for people who have failed everywhere else and ended up at Gymboree thinking they're at Gucci. 90% of the workforce are ex Gap/ Old Navy so a lot of the processes there have been applied to Gymboree- could be why the company is doing so badly. The compensation is poor, no bonuses as they never hit targets and no raises.
