Pros

I came in as a complete newbie. The lab manager took her time to train me and make sure I was up to par before I began to run the “real” tests. She was always on hand to lend guidance and help if needed. The work was hard and fast paced, which I loved because it made the day fly by and I was never bored. I loved working there and only left when I had a family tragedy and had to suddenly move out of state. Now that I am back in the area and working for a plumbing company, we use their lab whenever we are in the area. I have also consulted the lab manager for advice and she is always quick to reply and very knowledgeable.

Cons

Only con would be for people who don’t enjoy a fast paced environment or working within strict quality standards. Lab was a bit cramped at times, they really need to expand!

Pros

Good benefits package Time off for family or personal reasons encouraged Good group of employees

Cons

Leadership is only interested in personal profit, not the welfare of the employees. Leadership makes promises that are not fulfilled. Drastic pay cuts (14%), benefit reductions, and part time hours were forced on lower paid employees while management suffered no consequences. No female leadership within company. (Women all assigned to secretarial positions-no promotions available) "Good Old Boys" club firmly in place. Administrative positions (secretarial, accounting, payroll, assistants, ect) viewed as unnecessary and as a waste of company money. Pay increases extremely rare for those positions. Company does not have a reputation for quality work among field peers including inspectors, county officials, and other contractors in the local area. 50-60 hour work weeks required, while OT not paid. Office staffed forced to 32 hour work week while still expected to perform 40+ hours worth of work. Company holds very few local job contracts. Most work in other states. Significant travel required. Leadership lacks business management skills.
