Terrible Corporate Leadership

Pros

The culture at Graduate used to be great. PTO and compensation are decent. Property-level leaders are great to work with.

Cons

Direction is constantly changing, it feels like, on a whim. Massive layoffs with no communication or plans put in place for other employees to absorb the labor. Employees were reassured by corporate leadership no more layoffs were coming just to lay off said employees 3 months later. Morale is at an all time low, but let's not forget to check workplace so we can see how much fun corporate execs are having while we are forced to make drastic cuts. It feels like everyone is trying to jump off this sinking ship.

Terrible leadership, pay, benefits and "all-boys-club" culture.

Pros

If you like a start-up culture, where things move quickly with little direction or reasoning, then you'll like it here. Coworkers are very hardworking and friendly.

Cons

So many cons. Terrible benefits and pay. Almost embarrassing how little PTO and time off you get. Leaders, specifically the new leaders from Schulte, are the reason for all the budget cuts and mass layoffs. They're destroying an already fragile culture. The team members not laid off are stretched so thin and will more than likely leave. Don't trust anyone from the corporate team or any of the executive leaders. They clearly can't forecast or budget and are the reasons why the company is going down hill and having to sell off properties. I wouldn't be surprised if more layoffs are to come. HR can't support the amount of unsatisfied employees that are working for Graduate. Career growth and internal mobility doesn't exist. They care more about spending thousands of dollars on an internship program that leads to less than 10% conversion than they do on creating internal career paths. No clarity on how to hit quarterly incentive.

Pros

I was given opportunities here to be promoted quickly and enjoyed working with my clients and gaining new skills. However, these perks by no measure outweigh the cons.

Cons

I worked in Sales at Graduate Athens and saw corporate bigotry poison my property. In my 8 months of working there, they fired 4 extremely capable 50+ year olds, all with at least 20 years of experience in the industry. Graduate Hotels (funded by AJ Capital) DISCRIMINATES AGAINST EXPERIENCED EMPLOYEES and puts impossible sales goals pressure on their sales department (my experience). The corporate folks would rather spend top dollar flying in and out of the property, staying at the hotel for free, and having company-paid hours-long lunches, than listening to on-site employees and their real concerns for the property. This company is corrupt and I do not recommend Graduate Hotels for job-seekers, nor guests. If you have questions about my story, feel free to message me.
