Big Promises, Broken Delivery

Pros

The vision is admirable, and the market need is high.

Cons

There are deep issues with meritocracy (one of their core values) being interpreted as favoritism and massive promotions based on how chummy you are with the CTO/Co-founder. This has been expressed to leadership, including the CEO by almost every team across the company and nothing has changed. The product management team has no prior product experience, the sales team is consistently churning, people are randomly promoted for no apparent reason (other than being BFFs with the CTO), and the few people left there that actually care about making the product better are left to pick up the pieces. There are few of them left because the good people are tired of waiting for things to improve and have moved on.

A Truly Honest Review

Pros

The people...for the most part. The location. The perks....and this is mostly because of the people. If you're looking for a challenge and career growth, look elsewhere.

Cons

Mass confusion. Terrible product. Bad direction. No product marketing <-- this is key! Leadership is a massive gap. Half gutless, half egotists. The CTO's massive ego polarizes the organization. (How is that guy still there?) Over the past year, Gild completely lost its culture - one of the best things it had going for it. Gild once represented meritocracy. That is long gone. Gild's inability to steer the right course has led to 25+ layoffs in the past 9 months. It is a sinking ship. Run, and run quickly from this company.
