Pros

My boss did everything she could to advocate for us, it did not make a difference.

Cons

The work assigned to me took 50-60 hours to complete per week. Many of the bills I was paying or contracts I was assigned to compete were time sensitive. There was a constant unrelenting pressure and a complete lack of understanding from management that took a huge toll on my physical and mental health. I got real about taking care of myself and found a new job Praise God, the 8 months working there were some of the most stressful I have experienced. I am writing this to hopefully help someone know what they are getting into applying for a job at Georgetown and especially with procurement.

Pros

Work-life balance; two weeks off at Christmas; 10% salary contribution to 401K if employee vests 3%; Room to grow -- can change jobs/functions within University very easily; Great place for self-starters; Job security; Tuition Benefit is outstanding. Good place to get a free Master's, have a couple of babies, lay low, skill up, and then get back into the private sector. Prestigious institution -- name recognition. Always intellectual engagement opportunities.

Cons

Administration poorly run. If you want to get things done -- you might find it frustrating to work with a large number of colleagues that treat their positions as clocking in and clocking out. Many are unmotivated to think creatively and strategically. There is little incentive to be responsible for your work. Abysmal merit increases, never more than 2% -- every other year they freeze salary increase. Departmental budgets are continually absorb cuts; seemingly, there are always financial troubles.

Pros

I don't have any pros after my experience.

Cons

The department I worked for had terrible and unprofessional management, poor use of HR/mediation, and they targeted certain minority groups in the office. The pay was not good and the work was not as described in the posting. This was the worst job experience I have ever had. Do not work here.
