Layoffs and Mushroom management

Pros

Culture is incredible, the company would be lost without Amy

Cons

It is well known that junior / entry level employees are overworked. Direct managers seem to be fiercely protective of their reports but so little is done on the exec level. Entry level employees were used and abused in 2019-2020 only to be let go a day after CEO sent an email saying the company was doing well, then laid off people who had just had kids or had been with the company for 5+ years and send ANOTHER email “retooling our workforce”. Out of touch and disrespectful. People cried after this round of layoffs. I have not seen any departments “restructure” after layoffs, just more work piled on. I’m addition, CEO uses trivia names like “our couch pulls out but we don’t” you are supposed to set an example. Look elsewhere. This is mushroom management.

Not a good culture

Pros

small company feel allows for everyone to know each other

Cons

Bad culture, focused on niche groups and those with an in. Slow to promote, resource limited so most are over worked and under appreciated. Ego and males at the top, many directors are only interested if you do it their way, with one being sheltered even though there were reports of emotional and verbal put downs.

Pros

Nice, modern building with air conditioning. Plenty of bathrooms, complimentary gym membership. Open work space if you like the sort of thing.

Cons

There are a handful of people that are consistently promoted on a quarterly basis while the other members of the company are overlooked. Company wide goals and focus shift constantly- severely low on funds, frequent layoffs (about 1/3 of company gone in 1 year). Tough to have a positive outlook.
