How to Succeed: Nepotism and Favoritism

Pros

Free lunch, insurance covered, unlimited sick days.

Cons

There is no room for growth. Nepotism and favoritism is how you succeed here. You quickly realize that the managers are under qualified for their position because they are promoted within without extensive outside experience. This is a prime example of nepotism and under qualification at this company. There was nothing to learn under any person because they did not understand what we did, and her point of view is regurgitating information from meetings that made themselves feel important. Other employees with step over you to get ahead. This failing startup promotes under qualified people every year, and fires their manager in order to save money, and it shows external partners that we have "senior" people working for you.

Disappointing

Pros

Will reimburse cell phone plan up to $150/mo.

Cons

No Black representation in leadership at a company founded on Black culture. CEO makes empty promises in the wake of George Floyd's murder about launching initiatives to support the Black community with no plans to follow through or provide updates. Will continue to ignore the needs of his Black employees while benefiting from their hard work.

Pros

Free food Full insurance Meet celebrities Higher pay than normal Cell phone paid Pretty diverse bottom level employees. D level employees are not.

Cons

Employees do not the recognize the work you do here. You're not awarded based on the quality of work because your manager will not have the credentials to understand it. During my time here, there seems to be a trend of Genius hiring a higher up employee to manager the mid level staff. Fires the manager, and promotes the mid level staff to managerial level. I've seen past colleagues come in as junior level and is shot up to VP in the course of three years. Unlimited sick days is a scam, they expect you to be on slack. They do not pay your vacation days out, and due to the lack of staff you cannot even take vacation. They also expect you to come in during the week of Christmas.
