Working with smart and motivated people on interesting projects. Making a visible contribution to a growing business. Excellent health care package, seamless account (free breakfast, lunch and dinner), company events and philanthropy are encouraged. Games room for happy hour and your free time.
Cons
It’s a flat structure so everyone is incredibly autonomous, learning how to manage your projects without being micromanaged is tough at first. No dental plan...
Relatively good pay
Lots of smart people
Stocked kitchen and lunch every day
Interesting problems to solve.
Fairly good benefits and medical
Cons
Absolutely no technical leadership
While the codebase has severe technical problems that hinders the company's core need (being fast, as it's a high frequency company) in my years there no one ever took a step to solve this.
Every couple of years there are cutbacks where usually about 10% of the company are let go.
Time tracking system where you're required to report how you spent your time
Very few chances for promotion.
Projects are assigned to people rather than teams. Once you're in charge of something you're probably in charge of the forever.
Very nice office environment. The people (especially the devs) are really talented & always willing to give advice on work and/or personal projects if you're hacking something together at home. Open and mostly collaborative environment. People are always stopping by each other's desks during the day to give or receive insight which is nice. Good comp & growth opportunities. Relatively low turnover. Structure is pretty flat and the partners are receptive to new ideas / investing in cutting edge tech which is different from anywhere I've worked. Feels a lot like a startup but without the financial stability concerns.
Otherwise, nice group of people. A lot of them go out / drink together outside the office. Game room and free meals are a nice perk.
Cons
No dental plan... Benefits are pretty competitive but nothing insane. Most people seem to have a good work/life balance, so that probably just depends on your project load. There are a few people who burn the midnight oil pretty regularly, though they're likely the exceptions & not the rule.
