Pros

LOTS of overtime. Loan center will host celebrations which is nice. Work from home options. Good atmosphere at FACE VALUE

Cons

No inclusion on certain teams within loan center. 2 supervisors in particular, that are in the favorites game till the end. Don't bother having a good relationship with them unless you are in this circle. You are just a number. Very long hours, often working Saturdays. They will not work with your schedule. Management will allow you to do something incorrectly for months.. instead of coaching/teaching you correctly they jump straight to write ups months later. Toxic work enviroment, constant pressure and the pay is not enough for it.

Pros

-Decent pay and benefits for El Paso. -Some excellent coworkers. -Surface level community-oriented mission. -Friendly, small town work culture.

Cons

-Lack of opportunities for growth on an organizational and individual level. -Company culture prizes conformity and appearances over resolving conflict. -Vice Presidents, Managers and Supervisors frequently make problematic statements targeting individuals gender, race, ethnicity, and background, without consequences -Rampant favoritism. -Company prioritizes passing out free ice cream and having pep rallies over monetary incentives, despite repeated requests from employees. -Employees are put under extreme pressure to donate to charities and campaigns on a weekly basis, which can add unneeded stress when you're already paying off student loans, paying on a mortgage, car payments, utility bills, etc. -The formal system for addressing and resolving harassment functions as a de facto method for management to locate and retaliate against the aggrieved party. -A lack of consistent planning across the credit union means there is an increased focus on aggressively cross-selling to members, even when it is not in their best interest. This is often demoralizing. -Lack of SOP's, procedures. -Internal guidelines for work were unclear and often fell below industry standards. -An overload of work was not a chronic condition, it was the norm. -Inconsistent or nonexistent processes created a lot of waste of time, effort and money. -Skills acquired here do not necessarily transfer throughout the industry.

Pros

a couple of supervisors care, but most don't seem to

Cons

horribly understaffed and huge turnover rate because people are burnt out and management continues to make conditions worse, removing half days and saturdays off. the credit union as a whole is trying to expand while not helping the departments they have now. members are more and more upset because they wait longer for the fewer and fewer people that can help them and take it out on agents. micromanaged like crazy and low pay

Pros

Job security, great company to the members, and they really help when it comes to loans, mortgage, etc

Cons

Benefits aren’t as good for a newer employee as they are for an employee that has been there many years due to grandfathered benefits. Your department can absorb the work of other departments freeing them of the work they were hired to do. You can take on so much while you are at the lower scale of pay while a person at a higher pay scale just sits back and unloads their tasks on you to takeover. 1 person can have knowledge of something that no one else in the company has rendering them powerful in their department. Instead of cross training w other employees to get them familiar with something and gain knowledge, they milk their knowledge by taking time off whenever they want, do what ever they want, etc. they in turn become untouchable because they have knowledge in one thing that no one has. Nobody, mangers or supervisors would challenge them. You do get pay raises which is good, although it takes a verrrry long time to move up in the company. You would have to be there almost 20 years to finally see some good jumps from all the work you’ve put in. One department can have 9 VPs, 12 managers, 40 supervisors (exaggerating) lol but there are multiple. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Tends to cause a power struggle in the department and the only people that suffer is the staff. Hard work is rarely recognized but failure is put in a spotlight for everyone to see. You can solve something that would save time and money and they just give you a “good job”. Doesn’t even benefit you to move up or get a raise.
