Great people within programme overshadowed by incompetent senior management
Pros
Practice tutor and CSW (consultant social worker)/manager were so lovely and amazing. Everyone I met on the actual programme were so kind, friendly and helpful. A lot of support here.
Cons
Actual management of Frontline is incompetent. Complete disregard to the risks they are putting their graduate cohort in with Covid, and when concern is expressed there is no room to change anything. I was sent to do direct work with a family without PPE and was informed midway through that they were isolating from Covid. This is fine, part of the job. The problem came after when I requested an intercalated (differed) offer due to health reasons and caring responsibilities, and was rejected on grounds that failed to account for cultural differences (I grew up in a different country) and mental distress caused by the near-miss incidents. I was not given the chance to videochat the person in charge of my request, and felt I was not given any chance at all. There is also no room to appeal the decision. After my intercalation offer, I had to withdraw from the programme due to my inability to do things in person and without social distancing. Precautionary rules put in place e.g. maintain 2 metres distance from families are just formalities. Frontline writes them down just to protect themselves in case you catch Covid. Overall, I am glad I left when I did as Frontline's management was unsatisfactory and soon after I left my whole team was placed at risk when someone within Frontline caught Covid.
