Worst job I ever had.

Pros

None. Finding a better job is so easy when you’re starting in the sewer of corporate America and the financial industry.

Cons

The most toxic office culture I’ve ever experienced in my life. Culture is dominated by 70+ year old boomers who are all about hour counting and want their staff to come to work every single day early and leave late every single day, even when there is no work to be done. 24/7/365 on call for any little issue. Summer Fridays are a snake oil campaign, you end up working the hours mon-thur and being available and on call all day Friday for any little issue that may arise, some people come into the office on Fridays and expect answers to anything even when you already put in your hours for the week. I was demanded to do MANY things completely outside of my job description, management didn’t stick their neck out for me once. HR is just as two faced as the partners, never trust them. Zero job advancement opportunity. Training was non existent, any time you would ask questions to would get condescending remarks. It’s a miserable office culture full of miserable people who have become old, stagnant and complacent. I would never go back. Working here did nothing positive for my career or personal life. Look elsewhere for employment, just about anywhere is a step up. After finding a new employer every time I look back and think about this place I realize more and more just how bad it was and always will be.

Thank you for providing feedback. Summer Fridays is a voluntary perk that many of our employees choose to take advantage of and enjoy the flexibility of being able to put in their time from Monday- Thursday. While occasional responses during those Fridays may be asked of, generally speaking we have found this day off to be very well respected by management, employees and even clients. We are certainly sorry to hear that you felt our training programs and interactions with HR and management weren't satisfactory to you. We do pride ourselves in providing robust training experiences and management and HR work together with our people to provide as rewarding of an employee experience as possible. While we know our company culture is a great fit for many, it may not be best for everyone. We are glad to hear you have been able to find something better suited for you. If you do have further feedback or solutions you would like to provide us, please feel free to reach out to anyone in HR. We wish you the best of luck in your next role.

Pros

There is nothing to gain by working at this firm

Cons

Where do I start? The partners are all concerned about just one thing: themselves. Partners like to “brag” about the size of their books of business. However most of the partners are scared of their clients and because of this, the fees for most of the engagements are minuscule at best. Not only are fees charged totally inadequate the partners then have the nerve to give the staff a hard time because most of the realizations are terrible. What are we supposed to do? The fees are a joke and time needs to be spent on the work in order for it to be done correctly. Within the last few weeks over 50 staff members were let go “due to the COVID-19 pandemic” according to Management. Management says that staff is treated fairly and with respect . Is this how you treat people with respect? No attempts were made to reduce salaries to save jobs. You learn a lot about people when the chips are down and I and many of my colleagues don’t like what we’ve learned about Management. HR? Useless. Just see some of their comments responding to negative reviews on Glass Door. Total BS that doesn’t directly respond to the issues raised.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It's certainly disappointing to hear about some of your frustrations about the firm at the moment. While the firm was faced with making incredibly difficult decisions due to effects of Covid and other matters, I can assure you management weighed several options and ultimately did what they felt would be best to secure stability for the firm and its employees for the future. These decisions were not taken lightly and we have done our best to be honest with our people along the way during these unprecedented times. Sadly we cannot change what has passed however if you have suggestions or ideas on moving forward, we would welcome hearing them. With respect to our partners and clients, we are very proud of the client base we have and understand that many factors go into running a business. If you would like to learn more about how we go about fees for them, please feel free to connect with us so we can give you a better picture of the several factors involved. We cherish our employees and have done our best to treat everyone with respect, be honest and sympathetic the variety of situations we all find ourselves in during these times. Please do connect with your local HR, or another level of management, if you do not feel this way as we would welcome the opportunity to help improve your experience.

Taking advantage of employees and gaslighting

Pros

Most coworkers were very nice and pleasant to be around. Snacks. Birthday card and $100 gift card for bday month.

Cons

I see that there are a few positive reviews that have been written since the massive layoff during the pandemic (definitely fluff) They laid people off without notice and without emotion. It was heartless. Instead of furloughing employees, they left people without a job and without healthcare during a terrifying time that most didn’t take seriously and constantly joked about while people were dying. So funny how those who made jokes about the pandemic still seemed to keep their jobs... I cannot understand how they won best place to work on Long Island. Some people don’t know how to do their jobs very well and it effects others. I’d stay far away. It’s only a matter of time until the second wave of the pandemic hits and I’m sure they’ll lay off even more people who put their blood, sweat and tears into a company who offers pizza as a way to make up for overworking and taking advantage of employees. Some of the people in charge of others were very cold and took their personal problems from outside of the office into work and took it out on employees they didn’t like and then acted like nothing was wrong when they needed something.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that during your time with us you enjoyed the company of your colleagues and some of the various other perks we offer. We feel all our employees are our best asset so as you can imagine, it is always extremely difficult to make decisions around separations regardless of the circumstances. The decisions the firm had to make several months ago were certainly not easy and we know many other employers were faced with doing the same. We did not take this lightly and can appreciate the impact this has on individuals and families. The situations are never easy and we always try to do what is best and we are extremely sorry to hear you felt it was done in a less than empathetic manner. This was never intention and we would welcome feedback on how you feel we could have done this differently. We appreciate and do our very best to reward all the hard work our employees put in and our perks are just one way of expressing this. We are sorry this didn't work out in the long term with us and we wish you the best of luck.
