Pros

Relaxed and informal work environment, flexible working hours, good central london location and your colleagues are generally nice decent people.

Cons

No real career progression, always at the grind stone working to get another release out - no real engineering culture to inspire you or learn from. This isn’t a place to come learn your trade and grow, you get a once a year appraisal which is lip service at best and then forgotten about for the rest of the year. New management have made it pretty clear they are not in the business of rewarding you financially and have an agenda to reduce costs where possible. Staff retention is terrible currently, a lot of the old faces are leaving and ‘promotions’ are handed to people without any increase in salary.

Thanks for your comments. Whilst I agree that we have suffered some attrition this is now stabilising and leveling out. Not everyone wants to accept change but the changes were necessary in order to grow and improve our position in the market. We are introducing many new communication initiatives which will provide staff with an opportunity to get answers to their questions. This was not done consistently in the past and we acknowledge this.

Pros

Great people, great products, fun and interesting. Office was small and cramped, but what it lacked in aesthetics, it made up for in character.

Cons

Marketing are the driving force of bitter infighting and office politics. After the old VC purchase and the new one, there was a restructure that benefited those who where in the "inner circle". A flourish of inexperienced managers who didn't know what they wanted, but needed to raise sales and revenue, non the less, led to two failed products and loss of valued colleagues. No remorse and no regrets attitude from C Staff teams. Watch out for HR. Complete poison. Cold blooded and under handed tactics that will, and have led to, lots of top people leaving. The ousting of the original founder was the last straw for most. With another round of VC to be had, they will be trimming the fat, after the sale. Look else where.

I appreciate your review and the nature of it. I only joined Foundry at the end of 2015, along with many of the executive members, so I'm not able to comment on the specific examples outlined. However, I am genuinely sorry to hear how negatively you view your time at Foundry. Change is very difficult and we have experienced a lot of it recently. The teams have changed a lot in the past year and many of the old structure are no longer part of Foundry today. Hopefully, this type of review will no longer be applicable to Foundry as a massive amount has changed since you posted it.

A Mess

Pros

Used to be a great place to be. Awesome smart people, fun environment, I loved going to work everyday.

Cons

There are so many I don't even know where to start. Upper management who make decisions without understanding the ins and outs of what the teams are dealing with, so there are no solutions, just added problems and bad decisions. Major unhappiness with everyone I know still here, they all want to leave because they feel unappreciated, and overworked. There are people who have left who we will not be able to replace, but the company doesn't understand that high level technical people with these skills are very very difficult to find. Staff is pushed hard, expected to do more with absolutely no support to justify the goals set. New management with no understanding or background in our industry, but set expectations that aren't in line with our capabilities because of no resources. Understaffed, under resourced, pie in the sky ideas with no concrete strategic plan that will get us there.
