Pros

Worked with some great people in IDG - a lot of young people and good social life, but professionally only good as a platform for next job.

Cons

IDG is built on a culture of secrecy and lies. Upper Management claim to have an open door policy but in reality are a threatening presence who can not be reasoned with and consistently make illogical decisions with no regard for process or the staff they are affecting. The level of incompetence among management is incredible, they will come down hard on people they dislike and favour their friends. The company lacks morals, values and management with any kind of literacy skills. If you show signs of working hard your work load is constantly increased with no reward. There is no clearly defined path on how to move up the pay scale, some agents are paid more than people who are promoted to positions of increased responsibility in Middle Management/Quality Assurance/Training. Agents are underpaid - The company constantly demand more in terms of quality and admin duties but pay does not reflect these changes. There is no value on staff and they make it clear to everyone that they are replaceable at any moment. The disciplinary system is abused, no consistency across the board. Overall this is a miserable place to work. There is an extremely high staff turnover and there is a lot of unrest among the staff they hang on to. No one loves this job.

Pros

Multicultural environment Gym subscription, i guess

Cons

- Salary is the lowest rate legally possible. - Stressful job. - All they care is that you make those calls. - Micromanagement to the point of having your team leader counting the seconds between your last call and the next one and questioning you in case some minutes passed. - Stressful to the point that you have to justify to your team lead off-line time if you went to the bathroom. - Mobbing (workplace bullying) by some team leads. - There's no chance to be listened by management. - No career development. - Don't try to say out loud your thoughts about improvements, you'll be marked as a rebel and probably punished like when you were a teenager and you mom told you off and took playstation for a month. - Unprofessional HR. - It feels more like school than a business place. - They make you wear smart clothes only to give you the idea that it's a real business, when in reality you could go with you tracksuit as you only will phone secretaries, PAs and receptionist all day. - They have a complete lack of understanding of how a business is conducted. - They don't reward appropriately. - They don't reward agent that have been there the longest (only if you're Irish or if you're good in networking with the Manager).

Interesting comment. If the job was as bad as they described it and made them unhappy why did they stay 3 years?
