Outdated and Unwilling to Change

Pros

The schedule is consistent and the benefits are pretty good.

Cons

1. Any employee who isn't upper management is treated like dirt, the CEO and 3 of his favorite upper level male employees often take "Golf Days" while getting a full days worth of pay of course. 2. Be prepared to be treated like you're in elementary school again with the amount of insane petty rules the CEO decrees. This includes the dress code which is not only often impractical for the weather outside, but so harshly enforced that if your'e even one hair out of place you can expect an email from HR. 3. You will not be recognized or compensated for any hard work, going above and beyond is often discouraged and they want you to stay within the lines and keep doing things the same way they have been for years and years. The hardest working employees I knew while there were never acknowledged more than an occasional "wow you work hard" from management 4. Don't have a personality. They do not want individuals, they want drones. It's small but you don't even get to have your favorite cup or mug. The CEO declared everyone must use the same 8 ounce first community coffee mug because he is so obsessed with control 5. As with any business that deals with money and the public, you're going to have terrible members who yell and scream at you. This is everywhere, but First Community will not have your back and honestly you shouldn't put up with being abused by members and management. 6. Overall this is a harsh review, but I am so sick of the hypocrisy of this corporation, several people I still care about work there and watching them walk out of there miserable is soul crushing, it's not worth it. If you have any more questions try the back nine, you'll find the CEO and upper management there on most days

First community is great if you’re a member. Employees is a different story. The company is very outdated in their policies. The turnover rate is astronomical. There is no willingness to work with employees on personal matters. You are expected to always be at work when scheduled and if an emergency can come up, it will be held against you. The CEO only cares about making money even though it is a “not for profit”. We are constantly expanding to the point there is NOT enough staff to cover the growth. For a credit union, it has a big bank feel. There is no communication between senior management, back office and the branches. No one is on the same page. When asked how to keep staff retention MANY managers have given suggestions to just be told “no we will not do that”. There is no support. You’re expected to be verbally harassed & bullied by members & just take it because how dare you stand up for yourself to be treated like a person. I could honestly write a book.

Where to begin, if I could rate this place 0 stars I would. first community credit Union paints a beautiful picture when you are hired “great work environment and culture” couldn’t be farther from. To start off, training is a literal train wreck. Half of the trainers haven’t even worked in branches and don’t know the first thing about them. You won’t learn anything. There is no communication between branches and back office and what little communication they do have, is always incorrect info. There are many ridiculous promotions for upper management into positions they just make up, while every other in branch and back office department struggles being short staffed because they cannot keep employees. The pay is horrendous and almost insulting for how much work you have to do and all the harassment you receive from management AND the members. You are instructed to not even look at the President of the company if you see him in the hall… big red flag there. He gets paid millions, upper management about half a million, while everyone else makes maybe 40k after 5yrs? I’d rather chew rocks then ever step into this place again.
