Pros

I was at Finish Line for nearly 8 years and it was an awesome place to work until about a year ago.

Cons

The IT department is a train wreck now. People are leaving as fast as they can. The department has suffered better than 20% turnover in the last 9 months and it is going to get worse. Do NOT apply here! There is a reason they have so many openings in IT.

Pros

Great benefits. Onsite gym, free CrossFit classes. Extremely generous PTO structure. Work/life balance is absolutely stellar. Work remotely as much as you want. Management is encouraged to spend on training for their teams. The company is maturing at a modest rate, and there are many opportunities for exposure to new technologies. Always a project to work on alongside everyday work. Lateral moves are relatively common if you'd like to move to a new department. Compensation for senior positions is very competitive.

Cons

Large company with small business processes. This leads to mismanaged projects, heavier workloads, and ultimately layoffs when stock tanks. Too many chiefs, not enough indians, and poor communication channels between them. Advancement opportunities are almost non-existent unless in upper management. New positions are offered to outsiders; internal applicants are interviewed and always passed over. Small teams of 2-3 handle the workload of 7 or more. 55+ hour weeks are common during large projects.

Pros

- Discount on merchandise, including sale. - Youth Foundation provides support to Indianapolis children. - Opportunity to work with many well known national brands. - Rewards program for being active.

Cons

- In office 5 days per week (no flexibility); everyone is miserable. - Engagement survey that showed there is a lot of work to be done to improve employee satisfaction but nothing has been done for months. Poor leadership that does not listen to the employee base. - Incredibly flat organization. It is very difficult to advance. - Pay is laughable when compared to others in the industry. No negotiations. - All actions are micromanaged at every level. You feel like a child being watched by leadership. Even top performers are under scrutiny. - Employees are unhappy so turnover is extremely high. Some employees are forced to do the work of multiple roles without a compensation increase. - Touts being an inclusive organization but is far from it. Men fail upward while women have to claw for respect in every situation. It is disgusting.
