A horrific, egotistical fuelled nightmare of an owner.

Pros

You can gain a wide range of experience in Fifth Ring with the business divisions.

Cons

The owner and director Ian Ord is one of the worst humans I've ever encountered. Everyone shares this opinion. He screams in his office at staff, throws stuff across rooms and physically threatens people. He switches from this with a glibness and superficial charm in moments like a true psychopath. Ian will cunningly bully staff to gain a step of hierarchy and will try to demean them Infront of other members of staff. Horrible man who's reputation ruins everything else the team at fifth ring work hard to achieve.

Pros

Parents get to leave work early (at the expense of non-parents)

Cons

Directors/ leadership micromanagement, every piece of work was under tight scrutiny, nothing gets delivered on time. You have to fill timesheets right down to the minute with detailed description of what you did for the day. Super calculative SME environment - even when you’re on MC you’re expected to be responsive. You’ll be expected to work right on your first day right to your last day in very stark contrast to MNCs or other agencies. There’s no agency ‘perks’ your clients wouldn’t send festive hampers and if they did anything, it will be nothing more than a printed card sent via non-register mail. Apart from your salary, there’s no other benefits such as dental coverage or mental health subsidies. A true red flag in this day and age: you get nothing (not even insurance coverage) during probation period.

Pros

- Working with exceptionally talented colleagues who are experts in their fields - A fun, friendly and collaborative environment - Interesting, exciting and varied client projects - Support and progression opportunities from the management team - Recognition for your contributions through regular awards and annual values awards - Good work/life balance, including great support around childcare / family needs

Cons

I personally don’t see it as a ‘con’ as I enjoy a fast-paced and busy work environment, but the pace of work is not the right fit for everyone. Fifth Ring (and agency life in general) is not the place for people looking for a job where you can coast along or give 50% effort.
