Cheap pay, high expectations, fear tactics.

Pros

On the bright side Fields provides 2 weeks paid vacation after 3 years. And the benefits package isn't terrible.

Cons

Do you love having management remind you that you're expendable and that you're lucky to have a job at all? Well that's the Fields MO. Doesn't matter who you are or how long you've been there. They simply do not care about you. They don't pay well, they don't believe in giving raises, They'll work you for all you're worth and only pay you the bare minimum so that you won't quit. If you're commission they will dock your pay for no good reason and consider it an "expense", and they'll go out of their way to remind you that "the grass isn't greener on the other side". Upper management is disgraceful and that's why many employees have talked about quitting, and have quit already.

Terrible Culture

Pros

Above average pay scale, great co workers who want to contribute and have a better environment.

Cons

Tyrant management, zero work/life balance, no financial investment to Service department for equipment and such (run down sub par, far from high line atmosphere), CEO blows smoke to make employees think they care about culture but they keep management in place that do not promote such, zero growth. Minimum investment into store to keep running but not to promote good productivity.

Pros

Overall the staff is very friendly and the building/showroom is an absolutely beautiful place to go to work. Even though you are not permitted to have any coffee the cafe/lounge is very nice.

Cons

Absolutely no training. The manager told me to shadow an "experienced" sales rep. The sales wanted nothing to do with training someone and sent me to read about selling off of the first site he googled. During this "training process" I would greet customers, show them features of the vehicle, test drive with them, get them back to the table and make a deal. Unfortunately when I knew nothing about the extensive paperwork in a car sale i would go to my "trainer" and he would simply come in and fill out the paperwork then take credit for all of my commission because "I am two cars away from my bonus and you still get a training allowance". Considering the hours you work and the actual money you make selling cars i would never recommend a friend to get into this career. The internet has taken all room for big commissions on new and many used cars.
