Pros

- Good salary - Better colleagues, you will be friends with everyone. - The office is nice and beautiful, with an indoor garden, like a greenhouse. - You can play pool with any of the colleagues. - There is an amazing annual event. - Some of higher ranks and colleagues are always paying attention to chats and wiling to help. - Office is pet friendly.

Cons

100€ office based in 2024? Maybe it works in Malta, but if you plan to set a new office in another country, it would be great if you have checked how the offices work in that country. In Barcelona, 99% of the tech companies are hybrid, there is no spanish willing to go to the office everyday, that's one of the reasons we chose to be a software engineers. A part from that, I have only one thing to say: the onboarding. In my opinion it was not the best, I would have appreciated a tech buddy to explain me how the tech stack is build and how to read. It is not easy to read literally hunders of repos, with thousands of active branches and thousands of active PR, which most of them are not consistent or follow the same pattern. But that's only an opinion, someone might find this it's not a problem.

Thanks for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the great team culture, and the unique office environment. It’s always good to know when the little things, like playing pool or bringing your pet to work, make a positive impact. Regarding the office policy, we believe the energy and collaboration we get in-person cannot be matched remotely. That’s why we prioritize office presence while still offering flexibility on a case-by-case basis. We also appreciate your input on technical onboarding. We’re working to improve this to make the process smoother for new team members. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, and we wish you all the best!

Pros

Interesting market and compelling product. Modern, well-designed offices. Well-organized and enjoyable company events

Cons

The workplace culture here has some serious issues. A lot of tech leads are strong technically but very weak when it comes to people management. Feedback is often delivered in a way that creates stress and anxiety instead of helping people grow. Some leads use language and behavior that, in a more mature company, would easily trigger an HR investigation—but here it’s tolerated, mainly because they’ve been around for a long time and keep getting promoted despite lacking real management skills. There’s a constant pressure narrative: “you’re underperforming,” “we can do more,” “you need to push.” Instead of motivating people, this creates insecurity and burnout. Challenging ideas is basically a no-go. The hierarchy is very top-down: you listen, you execute, and that’s it. Many talented colleagues genuinely want to improve things, but leadership tends to shut down ideas to protect themselves rather than collaborate on better solutions. The probation period is especially rough. New hires are constantly reminded that probation is ending and that they need to give “100%.” It feels more like psychological pressure than support. I’ve never experienced anything like this in other companies—it’s closer to intimidation than empowerment. From the outside, the company markets itself as innovative and forward-thinking. Internally, though, the tech stack and processes often feel outdated and don’t always meet modern standards for quality and reliability. People in other offices are generally great to work with, but the Sliema office culture feels old-school and disconnected from what you’d expect in a modern European or US company. Be aware that growth is very political. The company is highly hierarchical, with internal “clubs” of influence. Career progression often depends more on who you’re friends with than on performance or ideas. Not surprisingly, high performers tend to leave quickly for better opportunities. Those who relocate for the role often stay longer, not because things improve, but because they feel stuck.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. While it’s positive to hear you find the market and products compelling, the concerns you’ve raised around leadership style, feedback, and culture are taken seriously. A high-performance environment should never come at the expense of respect, psychological safety, or fairness. Strong technical delivery must be matched by strong people leadership, and that expectation applies across all teams and locations. External recognition only matters if it reflects the day-to-day experience of our people. Feedback like yours helps hold us accountable as we continue to evolve. Should you wish to share further context or feedback, you’re welcome to reach out to the People Growth team directly. We value open and constructive conversations and feedback

Pros

- There are a few highly skilled people, but I believe a number of them have already left. In my last 6 months before leaving, I personally witnessed 4-5 resignations.

Cons

- Many of these “positive” reviews are conveniently written by new joiners, kindly nudged by HR (not mandatory, of course… but when you’re on probation, you get the hint :). - The company is stuck in the past. It’s 2025, yet because the CEO insists, everyone is forced into the office. Don’t expect flexible or modern working practices, they are not interested in adapting to today’s standards. -That shiny “Great Place to Work” award? It is for one niche category, ONLY IN MALTA. It looks good on paper, but it doesn’t reflect the day-to-day reality. - The Malta office is drowning in gossip. Barcelona likely isn’t much better culture flows from the top. - At the end of the day, this is a one-man show. If you’re just starting your career, maybe it is a stepping stone. But if you are a seasoned professional, AVOD IT! You will regret the detour. - INTERNATIONAL CANDIDATES, BEWARE: the relocation package (flight, hotel, first month support) looks nice but is smoke and mirrors. Salaries are below Malta’s industry standards, and you will only realize THE TRAP once you are there. HR will put on their best “sales” act, but DON'T FALL FOR IT. -RELOCATING FOR THIS COMPANY SIMPLY NOT WORTHING - And the job titles… oh, the titles. They hand them out like pastries. Apply for “Manager”? Congratulations, you might become “Head of X” tomorrow. It’s less career growth and more of a vanity game.
