Pros

This company is part of an exciting field that is growing tremendously, which is a huge plus. The compensation was reasonable. I met some really high-quality, hard-working employees.

Cons

As a small company, the people they choose to employ will contribute to the overall company culture in a more magnified way then in a larger company. Unfortunately, they choose to keep some employees around knowing that they openly mistreat other employees. Sadly, one of them was at the top of the chain. Another one was one of my bosses. This person was known as having an attitude issue and exhibited behavior such as whispering and gossiping. In another instance, yelling was involved.

Pros

With little to no real oversight, there is lots of room for professional growth.

Cons

The reason there was no oversight was a severe lack of competence, even within the limited domains of the various jobs. Working solely to make ones boss look good did little to fix real problems with mistakes made on clients' samples. Working to help lab members do their jobs more effectively alienated management, because they had no idea what the real problems were or how to fix them. Constantly repeating the problems and causes seemed to have no effect on any permanent management, as they didn't quite fit nicely into bullet points. That is, those that appreciated descriptions and solutions of the real issues were out the door due to overwork or stress (typically those lower on the food chain).
