Wow 23 5-star reviews in 2 weeks!

Pros

Beer on tap, and late start mornings are fine.

Cons

The company business is a little shady, basically being a lead generator for insurance companies. Unfortunately it isn't marketed like that and online reviews are destroying us. But really - 23 reviews in two weeks, and nothing for over a month before? Doesn't that look strange to you especially since they are all 5 stars? We are a data analytics company.

I'm sorry you're not having a 5-star (or even a 3-star) experience at EQ. We believe in our business and see our value as a true marketplace, and feedback from the millions of consumers who visit our website is positive! The key is in communicating that value to agents!

I flagged your review twice before, but as you haven't said anything racially offensive or called out any of our employees by name (except Kyle, he's awesome), I guess this one will stick. Sorry you're having/had a bad experience. Probably time to find a new job. We wish you the best of luck in your next step!

Pros

Everquote is the third online marketing company to come out of Cogo Labs (first was CourseAdvisor, second was Autotegrity). As such they have some pretty cutting edge data tools AND very clean data which makes analysis fun and enjoyable. You will learn a lot in the first year or so about best practices around data management and leading strategies in the online marketing space

Cons

Pretty sure this is against the terms of service of Glassdoor but HR PAID people to write the first 20 or so reviews (not sure if they are still doing it). Literally got an email one day that was like 'We need people to write us reviews on Glassdoor. If you fill out a review and then SHOW US which review you wrote, we will give you $15." I'm guessing they're claiming that you could write any review you wish (positive or negative) and still get the $15, but who is going to INTENTIONALLY shoot themselves in the foot?? Good move by management to game the rating system, but reader BEWARE. Everquote does not invest in their employees and a lot of the older employees are sticking around purely to cash in on their equity. They have enough equity that they want to see Everquote through to a liquidity event, but would likely leave right after that. While you'll learn a lot in the first year or so, after that the learning plateaus pretty quickly.

Oh boy, where to start . . . I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a less than awesome experience at EverQuote. We believe strongly in developing our employees and make sure our folks have every opportunities to learn new skills and take on more responsibility. We are incredibly proud of the fact that nearly all of our senior managers stated at the company in entry-level, individual contributor roles. In fact, every single one of our analytics teams managers (including our SVP) started at the company as an entry level quant analyst. Please, please speak to your manager, Shimrit, or Seth if you’re unhappy with the projects you’re working on (or about anything really). We want to make sure the concerns of our employees are being heard and we can only do that with constructive and honest feedback. That being said, we’re well aware that the work environment at EQ places a lot of responsibility on our employees. We are a huge company without a laddered career path or formalized universal training program. Rather, we provide individualized support and resources specific to our employees. And, because of this, we strive to hire folks who like doing things a bit differently; know how to ask for help; are comfortable taking responsibility early and often; and have strong innate leadership skills. But yes, this environment isn’t for everyone. And finally, yes, in April 2015 we did encourage our employees to write a Glassdoor review with a $10 Tatte (the awesome bakery across the street from the office) gift card. We did NOT require, nor do we have a way, to make sure employees write only positive reviews. Folks did NOT need to show us what they wrote - we trust our employees when they say they did something - and as such we received about ten reviews (including some 3 and 4 star reviews) that month. We thanked our employees for their honest feedback and for taking the time to let the world know how much they love working at EQ, as well as for their constructive feedback.
