Pros

Great technology, opportunities to tackle significant leading edge technology challenges, Division leadership is strong. Good cash generation, company likes to grow by acquiring. International foot print. leadership position in leading edge technology.

Cons

SEMI market cycles, Executive leadership too finance heavy, old white guys in Boston making too many decisions. Management by fear. Zero based budgeting. HR policies that seem to be stuck in the 1970's Perfect example of the culture the current executive team supports; weeks after achieving record revenue and earnings for Q417 quarter and fiscal year 2017, CFO and COO celebrate achievements by threatening to take away all business class travel. Keep in mind that current policy, for non executives, is you can fly business class AFTER the 2nd trip of greater than 8 hour flight time and only in segment that is greater than 8 hours. Meanwhile, the executives have a separate travel policy. Other examples; frequent cost cutting that results in continued elimination of employee benefits, such as vacation accrual, regular answer to finance challenges is to reduce head count. Investing in employee development... very limited. My experience also included having executives intervene in hiring decisions at manager level to support their individual agendas. My opinion is that division leadership has hands tied with low factory utilization rate and unable to eliminate excess capacity. Afraid to take risk in fear of losing job. Low morale that is still heading in a negative direction.

Pros

Benefits were great, now they are just good/ok; still better than a lot of companies. Dress code is business casual and jeans can be worn on Fridays. Many employees are long-term, friendly and helpful. Upgraded systems: SAP, Business Objects, Microsoft Office 365, etc. Location is nice, easy commute in SW suburbs, close to bike paths or bus line if you don't drive or like to walk at noon.

Cons

Constant acquisitions, mergers and restructures. Sr. Mgmt has been so focused on becoming a "global leader" and on margins that they've forgotten about what once made this company great; the people and the products. Every time we restructure, whether it be in Corporate, Sales, Engineering or the Plant, it's usually the 20 - 30 year people that are eliminated, along with all their product & systems knowledge, expertise, and loyalty. Morale declines company-wide, and those that remain have to pick up the slack making their work/home life balance suffers even more. Sr. Mgmt preach Corporate Values, business partnering, collaboration, coaching, etc. but then company-wide they pass over the talented and respected Mgr's, and promote (or hire from the outside) Mgr's who are arrogant, unfeeling and sarcastic, because "they'll be able to make the tough decisions". They also make your dedicated employees want to leave and go somewhere where they will be appreciated and respected. Minimal opportunities for career growth in Entegris Finance/Accounting. Sr. Mgmt, Directors and several Mgr's have been here for many years and are not leaving anytime soon. Most employees live outside of the metro area where it's cheaper to live so they will accept lower wages, therefore Entegris' salaries are slightly lower than the average Twin Cities Mfg company.

Pros

My Operations teammates are good people that I enjoy working with. From Operator to Operations Manager, there are multiple employees that want to do well and try. My pay is low on the high tech side, but generally good compared to the rest of the industries. I stay busy in the workday. There are lots of challenges to work on.

Cons

A newer HR leader and newer site leadership have created a toxic and broken culture. Teams are afraid to discuss issues due to backlash. Operators are treated like spare parts that can be swapped out instead of skilled people with abilities. No engineering leadership to coordinate manufacturing improvements. No Operations leadership to help make teams more efficient. Operator turnover is high. People used to leave to make more money, Now people leave to get into a better culture. Entegris still has an issue accurately paying hourly employees on time.
