Pros

I joined Engaged Prospect when there were only 5 reps on the sales floor and from the very beginning the door to management was always open. During my very first week I hit a major stumbling block that would have derailed by career at most companies but instead Dan Hersh and Sam Stein made sure I had all of the support I needed to not only make it through a challenging time but go on to thrive in a culture that values independence and creative thinking. The door to management is always open and I have always felt comfortable bringing them any worries or concerns. Because of this open dialogue and the training and support I received I was able to rise through the company from a sales rep to Director of Sales Operations. As a woman, I don’t share the concerns expressed in other reviews on this site. While it’s true that women are still the minority in the sales world, I am proud to say we represent 50% of the current leadership. I have never been held back by being a working Mom - I was always encouraged to work from home if I needed to tend to a sick kid or school was cancelled for the day. One snow day happened to coincide with a company wide training I was running and I had to bring my then three year old to the office with me. She quickly got bored listening to me talking about sales analytics and as I was desperately trying to quiet her down the Executive Vice President took her outside and the two of them spent the next half hour pretending to be cheetahs so I could finish my meeting. The company has grown a lot since my first days here and we have faced our share of growing pains but the door to management never closed. If anything, the addition of the Operations and Sales Training departments have provided more support for sales reps to succeed. New opportunities are constantly in the pipeline and Engaged Prospect is a great place for any independent minded sales person to do well.

Cons

The company is still evolving. New opportunities require the ability to process information and pivot quickly. People that thrive on repetition and need to be constantly managed should look elsewhere - this is definitely an environment that requires independence and decision making skills. Basic tech skills are also a requirement - spreadsheets, navigating CRMs and Sales Enablement tools, etc. Training is provided but I wouldn’t recommend this position for someone without rudimentary computer skills.

Inside Sales in a Startup Environment

Pros

Solid culture; the feel at the office is that of a startup. Management does not micromanage but provides support when needed. You can gain a certain degree of autonomy to work your account and find success if you're competent. The business model allows you to gain a well-rounded set of skills - inside sales, marketing, and account management. Coworkers and Pres/VP are good people. Health benefits, PTO, paid holidays.

Cons

No employee-sponsored 401K is offered.

Pros

This is a truly great company to work for. It has been set up to encourage growth and success for an inside sales rep. They do this by setting up fair commission structures along with a solid base salary. The management has fostered a culture that allows for an inside sales rep to grow and learn not only from their peers, but also from themselves. It feels like the management has an "open-door" policy and will always help to make accounts run smoothly. They give several opportunities to take on leadership opportunities. While it is sales, and everyone is driven and hungry, the culture is supportive, even amongst peers. We often forget to talk about our personal lives amongst one another because we are always engaged and enthusiastic about the work we are doing, and often talking about our work (like overcoming objections, creating new email marketing campaigns and finding the right decision makers in different industries). I have learned so much since I have been here and have grown so much as well. It is a great place for someone who is driven. This company is growing fast, and often so are our accounts. Someone who is successful here needs to be prepared to pivot strategies quickly as we learn more about the products/ industries we represent. This is not your average inside sales role, to be successful you need to have critical thinking skills along with a sincere drive to win.

Cons

We leverage technology in such a way that all team players have to be comfortable using our tech. I personally enjoy this, because it makes my job easier, but I would imagine it would be challenging for someone who isn't comfortable with computers/ tech.
