Pros

Good journalism ethics, lots of room to grow, and vast majority of the culture is supportive/kind. Organization is growing and keeping up with the trends. Many people have left Energy Intelligence and then end up returning later, which speaks volumes!

Cons

Sometimes the seasoned employees get the most opportunities, which makes sense on one hand, but also doesn't make sense because then the unseasoned can never become seasoned.

Pros

The quality of the editorial team is a little uneven but there are some very smart, knowledgeable and industrious people within it. If you want to stay sharp they are good people to be mixing with. There is no need to come into the office. EI has for many years had a policy of allowing many of its people to work from home, long before the Covid pandemic arrived. This means you can make your pay go further if you choose not to live in an expensive city. Communication is excellent. Editors and editorial management hold regular scheduled meetings over Teams to discuss the major issues and topics of the day as well as one-on-one check-ins with team members. If you live and breathe energy journalism, then this is the place for you. The pay is decent. Healthcare benefits are good, if you sign up to them.

Cons

I can’t really think of any. One item, I suppose, is that the company doesn’t organise “fun” events for staff apart from a Xmas meal. But then news is a 24x7 affair, and many colleagues work late and several live and work far away from each other, so a weekday or evening event would be difficult for everyone to get along to anyway.
