Disorganized mess

Pros

Outside of the executive team, there are a lot of good, smart, hard-working people there doing their best to manage a constantly changing product and pricing positioning.

Cons

While the CEO seems to mean well, it feels like he’s ahead of his skis now. The people driving the product direction aren’t making decisions based on the market or what will move the needle, but more so based on product features that are merely nice to have. Also trying to take onboarding software and spin it as a “human experience platform” is a stretch. What does that ACTUALLY mean? Stick with what you did well.

Enboarder Response
3y
Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback about your experience working at Enboarder, we’re committed to improving our employee experience based on all of the feedback we receive (not just the glowing reviews)! Working at a startup is hard and navigating our strategy updates through a pandemic and then global economic insecurities isn’t without its challenges. Unfortunately, those challenges meant that we had to join the thousands of other companies that went on hiring freezes and had to reduce our workforce. We’re thrilled by the response we’ve seen to our focus on creating human connections! We stand by our decision to move away from onboarding — selling onboarding during a time when most companies are on hiring freezes would have been impossible.

Growing Pains

Pros

The people are really cool, and the atmosphere is built to be energetic, vivacious, and fun. Super global company with team members all over the world, so you get to learn about different cultures and cities. The company also has an annual connect conference in a different city each year, so you get to go to some amazing locations (this year was in Sydney, AU). The People Team is amazing, and they truly care about employees.

Cons

Leadership is hypocritical when it comes to going into the office. They mandated specific days in the office each week, even though all of leadership is remote. They also required RTO even though they have tons of research pointing to remote/flexible being the best option for all employees. The CEO still subscribes to the boomer way of thinking that employees can only perform in the office, when really it is the opposite. Sales is a nightmare. They don't hold reps accountable at all. If you are going to be held to certain standards on other teams, why isn't it the same for sales, which is the most important department for a "growing" company. They have some of the worst nepotism I have ever seen in a company. The CEO doesn't realize his actions can be completely unfair by prioritizing family ties over competence.

Pros

I've noticed a recent influx of reviews that seem disconnected from the authentic experiences of earlier ones. This surge, all apparently submitted on the same day, shouldn't detract from the genuine perspectives of employees past and present. Enboarder always had an incredible culture, and had some of the most passionate and talented sales, marketing and CS representatives I've ever worked with. Managers backed their employees to succeed, quotas were reasonable and the pay was excellent. As an onboarding product, the company grew consistently well over the four years I was there.

Cons

There has been a bit of an identity crisis around company messaging not matching the product's capabilities. Sadly this meant that the frontline customer reps (sales and CS) were battling with a marketing message that the product couldn't support, leading to some inter-function hostility and frustration. The company also grew so quickly that when the market essentially crashed, I along with many others was made redundant. I loved my time there and wish the company well.
