Pros
- Very friendly and collaborative work culture - Working with students is really inspiring and funny at times - Enjoyable office environment
Cons
- No opportunities to grow in the Program (direct student service) department. Only College Affordability Advisor and Program Director positions available (nothing in between.) Very discouraging for advisors, which is why they have to hire new advisors every year since so many are itching to leave within a year. There are advisors who have been advising for years without any opportunity to move up within that department, meanwhile every year certain staff in other departments get whole new titles and promotions. - Advisor burn out is very common. Although work ends early, from 7:30am-3pm it's nonstop work with students at the school to reach number goals and are completely drained by the end. Then data, meetings and trainings take the last bit of energy remaining in the week. - Diversity is lacking in non-Program departments. The direct-service staff is very diverse, but besides that there is not much diversity here. When they open up jobs internally, advisors that apply rarely get them due to "not enough experience" although the interest and ability to do the job is definitely there. - The leadership team has, for the past three years, made it a goal to bring diversity into their team, but that hasn't happened. Unfortunately that will never happen unless the leadership team changes. At this point it's a mentality and thought process situation and not necessarily that the opportunity to make it more diverse has not presented itself.
