Absolutely none. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
Cons
If you are reading this... buckle up. nate is 100% a place of tremendous trauma for past employees. And when I say "past" employees, I mean more than 70% of the company. nate has carried out 2 random and very sudden mass layoffs within a 2 month period. You may be wondering, "Is the company really doing that poorly". Why, yes- yes it. My guess is that nate will not exist within the next 3 months, which is not surprising. Let's start at the beginning. I interviewed for nate knowing that the app concept was horrendous. I just hated my old job so much that I really didn't care that nate was stupid. I did 5 interviews (including a case study) for a role that paid under 65k. I have to laugh. I took a MAJOR pay cut to come to nate, and I was promised that I would get a raise after 6 months. Spoiler, I didn't get the raise. I was desperate, so I guess that's why I did it all. Also, side- note, they stole case study ideas and ran with them. So even if you didn't get the job- they would ask for your slideshow and steal everything you worked on. Also, even if the app's technology were 100% there, there is literally no need for this app. Automated checkouts? Yeah, my phone and laptop do that for me in 1 second. Plus, I can get coupons online and save money. Why on earth would I download an app, share my banking info, go to my web browser and individually add items to my cart (most items won't load and are not compatible with the app), pay nate $1 for a transaction that can be done for FREE, and THEN go do a one-click pay. Also, it's not even a one-click pay. FALSE ADVERTISING. The app is dumb and everyone that worked there knew it, we just couldn't say it out loud because we needed a paycheck. You'd do it too for a check! I wish I knew better back then. The work environment is deplorable. Some managers (rip because they were "let go") would come to the office like 3 times a month, but EVERYONE is expected to show up everyday in-person? They spend God knows how much on the office space when it is significantly more productive for people to WFH. Everyone was required to come in-person to "maintain company culture". The culture is hidden racism, bullying, ostracizing, and gossiping. The office had bullies. They wouldn't say anything to your face, but they sure did gossip behind your back with the accompaniment of the World's Worst CEO. The bullies would dance around the office and make social media videos about how fun the space was. Everything you see online about office culture is a lie. There were cliques and even people within the cliques talked about each other. Not to mention the CEO who was always there for the gossip. He should have been working on how to make the company not be the worst app to hit the market since Flappy Bird. Actually, I take that back, Flappy Bird does not deserve this slander. But nate does. Also, the CEO would literally ask employees who they were sleeping with and if they had hooked up with anyone at the office. Sir, are you out of your mind? Stop making out with influencers at public events and worry about your husband, child, and failing company. The first round of layoffs were insane. The CEO literally STAGED a covid scare and told everyone to stay home. This was so strange because even if someone in the office had covid, they would have early morning cleanings and tell everyone to come in. Anway, he proceeded to add a random "Urgent Meeting" to people's calendars right before everyone logged online. He then led a 4 minute Zoom call with 40+ employees, where he read from a sheet of paper and told people how that was their last day and then logged them out of their laptops and used a software to force shutdown the laptops. He then had a meeting (the same day and immediately after the one I just spoke about) telling everyone their jobs were safe as he giggled and apologized for the covid scare- which turned out to be a little ear infection of his (A LIE). The people that were just fired were left with ONE day of health insurance, the worst severance package you could imagine, and little to no communication from the office. Anyone and everyone involved in that is absolutely diabolical. To look in people's faces and smile for months knowing they would be fired without notice. Pure evil. The next day, THEY THREW A ROOFTOP PARTY and made plans to rearrange the office because "it was so spacious now". The CEO is also quoted to have said that the layoffs gave him a "rush". That is the type of man he is. Anyway, they all looked like they had a blast at that party. Disgusting. The company also did layoffs because the extremely inexperienced marketing lead let her team spend MILLIONS of dollars on campaigns and events that brought in the equivalent of 5 cents in revenue. They would host events (bad ones at that) and not consult with the finance team. Insanity. The company just did another round of mass layoffs all while offering select folks 0 pay for a month, and the chance to fight for your job if they can get 2 execs to advocate for them as they present their case. This is not The Hunger Games- these are people's lives! I know they expect everyone to just quit so they don't owe them severance. It is also so incredibly hard to qualify for unemployment if you willingly leave your job. nate has no regard for human life. This is all to say that nate sucks SO hard and will go down in history as a joke. I worked there for a year and never used the app. Why? Because it is dumb and everyone knows it. Last thing, the company is not diverse at all. Very little BiPoc people...I think they have all been fired now. They used their faces like colleges brochures do for flavor and then fired them. That was very long, but I hope I helped shed some light on nate. RIP.
