Cons
If you're a trainee or newly established recruiter looking to develop in a supportive, growth-oriented environment, this is not the place to build your career. The most experienced consultants here have less than three years in the industry and haven’t built high-billing desks themselves. Instead, they’re tasked with micromanaging junior team members to fill gaps left by absent management. With a staff of fewer than ten people, only about half of whom are actually billing, it’s clear that the company lacks both structure and resources. There’s a heavy emphasis on pushing consultants to overcharge clients by three figures, creating strained relationships that lead to frequent client turnover. This lack of client loyalty and ethical flexibility reflects an environment focused on deception rather than sustainable business practices. The most problematic aspect, however, lies with the director. The management style is reactive and temperamental, with a noticeable disconnect from the recruitment industry. With no firsthand experience in building a desk from scratch, there is a lack of insight into market demands and tends to set unrealistic expectations. The leadership approach creates a tense, negative atmosphere with no constructive feedback. Staff are frequently reminded to “watch their backs,” with senior consultants reporting on small details, down to an extra few minutes taken away from the desk. Training, promised at the start, is practically non-existent, leaving employees to learn on their own, often resulting in mistakes that are met with criticism rather than guidance. Additionally, the company presents itself as established and profitable, but this is far from the truth. Outdated Trustpilot reviews and exaggerated claims are used to attract new hires and clients, yet there’s no candidate pipeline, no established market presence, and territories are shifted weekly. The high turnover rate and hiring-and-firing culture only add to the instability. This is a start-up operating without the infrastructure or support needed for success, and it’s an environment where everyone is left looking out for themselves. For anyone serious about a long-term recruitment career, a company with a structured training program, positive culture, and experienced mentors is a far better choice. Avoid this position if you're looking for professional growth or a supportive environment.
