After being put into the administrative assistant position the work culture became very toxic. The CEO is understanding and easy to have a conversation with, but her management needs be re-evaluated. Please hire someone with real experience and credentials to run your business.
I expressed my concerns about my work loads (meant for 2+ people) and stress on multiple occasions and was dismissed each time. When it became overly stressful, I started making mistakes due to unrealistic deadlines and lack of communication. After that conversation, I was given my final warning regarding my position.
When I stood up for myself, management was passive aggressive towards me, made inappropriate comments to me in front of several other coworkers who would message me on the company chat telling me that management is bringing tension to the workplace & making it an uncomfortable environment.
This place is a revolving door. Those who are still working there are only working for a paycheque until they find something more stable and sane.
Work space is absurd. Small desk, foot pedals falling apart, broken headphones, employees with sore wrists, neck, backs & aren’t able to communicate with anyone due to lack of communication and no formal HR.
Breaks are unheard of other than your 30 min unpaid lunch. I was expected to take 5 minute breaks every hour and half, and if I took longer, management said they were watching me, even though I stayed 20 minutes to an hour after every one of my shifts.
Expect management to delegate their own tasks to you while they sit in their office on their phones, take 1 hour + breaks, go on walks to get stuff to eat, when they could be practicing what they preach about working together as a “team” to get things done. Management would passively aggressively harass me about getting things out “on time” then go back to her office to do nothing, chat with other employees etc. My breaks were only “tolerated” when I was taking them with management. However, those concerns never got brought up in meetings about my performance.
Management does not know how to separate themselves and remain professional from those who are not management. This concern has been spoken to me by so many of my former coworkers.
Salary is off the table, expect to make $15-$18. Overall, pay equivalent to a fast food position, except more work.
I worked there for almost a year, stayed late, got many things out on time, helped other employees while doing my own job and I never got a thank you or any sort of recognition from the CEO or management. I was very confused when management was confused when I quit. If an employee is telling you they are stressed multiple times a week, making mistakes in their work due to over increased workload, you don’t ADD more on to them.
