Pros

The pay and benefits are competitive (including RSU packages), many of the people are very smart and ambitious, there are some promising products, and the work can be rewarding depending on your team and manager.

Cons

If I rated Zoom when I started a few years ago, it would easily have been 5 stars. There has been a serious downturn that seems to stem from a lack of clear strategy and very poor communication from leadership. It seems that key initiatives changed almost daily and various teams often had completely different priorities. Further, there were serious inconsistencies in performance across people and roles—some were giving 110% and some might have been, quite frankly, coasting, or at best, excluded from key initiatives. Perhaps to remedy this (and to cut spending, among other things) leaders began an ongoing series of layoffs. However, low performers were not always the target and it was often completely unknown and unclear to the organization why certain critical people and teams were cut. As you can imagine, this has created a fear culture where otherwise good people have become even more siloed and competitive.

Pros

Nothing about this company is worth noting.

Cons

One of the worst companies I have worked at. Management and leadership are disorganized and unsupportive. Employees get treated like dogs and are talked down to. No work life balance because everything is an escalation or because some “head” requested something. For a company so well regarded, they sure know to how be cheap and take away benefits. Parental leave is basically a slap you in the face. Comp is high but expect to have that dangled in your face or else you get let go. On site lunch and breakfast is nice but how much can you sugar coat the terrible work conditions with little snacks? Everything is such a mess. I’ve been here for almost 7 months and have not met a single person that enjoys their job. DO NOT JOIN ZOOM!
