Pros
Locally owned Austin business that offers different types of massage treatments- foot reflexology, chair massage, and Thai massage in an open space, so you get to work right next to other therapists while you give treatments. In that setting, you can learn a lot from each other. You also get a discount on merchandise sold in the front.
Cons
-The owner put too much pressure on the front desk to keep everything running smoothly so they were often stressed out.
-They didn't have any communication structure in place to address issues and employees were let go without any prior warning or communication of management concerns.
-The training to perform the different services (reflexology, chair massage & Thai massage) is only 8 hours long, which is inadequate.
-The owner calculated the paychecks and they were often incorrect, always in her favor.
-The pay system was very complicated and staff members not as strong in math could have easily been being underpaid without their knowing it. (Only the employees that took personal time to re-calculate everything even knew when their paycheck was short.)
-The staff shares a bathroom with the clients and it is in the treatment area.
-Sometimes the bathroom would make the massage room stink.
-The owner asked for employee feed back and ideas, but often seemed to take ideas for improvement as criticism.
