Pros

- You get to work with kids - YL has a weird amount of money so you get to do trips and staff outings that costs $$$$. Eg. I was flown to another country for some bs anniversary

Cons

- Racist, sexist and homophobic. As a bipoc female on staff, my supervisor treated me like a maid. - You tell kids Jesus loves them but your trainer reminds you that it is with conditions - YL is white. Very very white. Their clubs are white, majority of their management, and non white kids get slowly pushed out. - Classist and transactional: if you’re not making relationships that can give you something your supervisor and trainer discourage it - You fundraise half-all of your salary and it ruins your mental health and relationships. Not only that, the optics of YL and how they manage their funds made me seriously uncomfortable. - No work/life balance. My trainer even told us that the hours we weren’t officially working we should be giving to YL voluntarily. - Toxic environment; example: I was 15 minutes late to a meeting and got a call from my trainer during my off hours and got yelled at for an hour
