Pros

- Decent starting point in a civil engineering career to learn the overall design aspects of single-family residential land development. - Good base pay. It is competitive or on par with job market depending on where you look. They will definitely try to lure you in with salary, so just ask. - Everything is done in-house from the acquisition of land to the survey, design, and construction. You get to witness what all goes into single-family land development. This is the great thing about the company.

Cons

- Careless management from CEO down to project managers (although not all of the PMs are horrible. In fact, there are/were a number of great ones there) - CEO is never there, always on vacation out of state/country and hard to get ahold of. He is the only one who has the power to start projects and keep them moving. - You're either running out of work or waiting for projects to come in. - Strong “we’ve always done it this way” attitude about everything (all the way from design work to the company culture) - High turnover - No CAD techs or drafters and refusal to hire any. 75-95% of the EIT job is being the draftsman and wasting your time drawing, labeling, and setting up sheets instead of doing engineering design. There is one CAD manager type of guy there, but he doesn’t know Civil3D as it is new to the company. It doesn’t help that he’s very hesitant to learn either. - Only room for advancement is when people leave, which is often, so this could be a pro instead of con depending on how you look at it. They’ll have to start fighting for people to stay eventually. - Subpar or basic benefits. Health, dental, life, vision, 401K, holidays, PTO, profit sharing, etc. - No flexibility or remote capabilities - Judged on hours at your desk and not results you produce - Scammy bonus is used as the carrot over the whole company’s head.
