Pros

It's a utility, the industry is never going away so in a way there's job stability. Benefits are cheap and a little subpar, but it worked for my family since we are very healthy. Lots of opportunities to move around in the company. Compensation is good and bonuses are great if your direct leader has your back.

Cons

Everything about Xcel is 10-20 years behind. Technology is lacking and has an archaic feel to it. The general vibe from high up executives is somewhere toxic and misogynistic. Many leaders are white and privileged and don't take the time to hear and listen to employees and internal company policies reflect this. Many people want to work 100% remote but the CEO and HR think they are doing employees a favor by enforcing them to be in the office at least 20%. Xcel is big on safety and they are good with lineman and field workers, but could care less about corporate office workers' safety.

Pros

Work-life balance, okay benefits, and cemented impact on the community

Cons

Because the company has a bottom line, promotional paths aren't really a thing beyond individual contributor to manager. I don't know what the next level up would be besides that.
