Pros

You can learn about many aspects of the photo industry. Coworkers are generally fun and easy to work with.

Cons

I could write an essay about every dysfunctional thing at Wonderful Machine, but it all boils down to awful management. The husband and wife who own the company are simply horrible bosses. They are petty, spiteful, and do not give a thought to how their employees' morale impacts the ability of the company to function. The issues mentioned in these other reviews are sadly accurate. Sadder still, all of these problems have been brought to the owners of the company. When employees leave in waves, the owners get frustrated and press remaining staff to know why the turnover is so high. They have been told that their management style is the direct cause of low morale and high turnover, but they refuse to accept any responsibility. It seems that everyone but them is the problem. New hires come in excited and enthusiastic, and often quit within a few months. Employees leave before lining up a new job, they are just too miserable to keep coming in. "Life is too short to work at Wonderful Machine" was a phrase I heard often. Keep that in mind and avoid this place.

Pros

-You will continually acquire new skills and experience with frequent role changes. -You'll meet and collaborate with people of various creative backgrounds and cultures.

Cons

It can be challenging to transition from one role to the next, especially if you have a preference. However, sometimes you're surprised to find fulfillment in a position you wouldn't have otherwise considered.

Pros

As a newcomer to the industry, it's a great place to get a lot of experience in little time. You will meet great people, as everyone is young and typically shares the same interests. But sadly, you will spend every ounce of free time complaining to one another about how much you hate it there.

Cons

I'll start off by saying I'm not sure how this company is still a company. The staff turnover rate is nearly impossible to keep up with and the structure of how everything is run changes just as frequently due to the CEO's erratic thoughts and ideas. Expect your job title and responsibilities to change without notice and often. No matter what position you're hired for, you can expect to have to do an excessive amount of marketing/cold calls to clients that is pretty much 0% effective. You will be called out every time you do something wrong, as small as forgetting to put a period after a sentence, but will never be recognized (or compensated) for the amount of consulting revenue you're bringing in (if you can manage to get the point where you're allowed to do consulting) or any positive accomplishments. The office space makes all of this less tolerable. Everyone is crammed into a small room where the CEO is the nucleus and can watch over everything. Oh yeah, and you will not be paid fairly. At all.
