Couldn't Retain Talent Even if they Tried - Assistant General Manager White Lodging Employee Review

Pros

-Investing in more premium brands, selling off their roadside 110 room budget properties one by one.

Cons

-First and foremost, please ignore all reviews which contain two incomplete sentences with incoherent jargon. WL is clearly paying a 3rd party to leave vague reviews with buzzwords like 'great benefits' or 'growth potential.' Any review with at least 3+ sentences has actually worked a day at WL. -Kudos to whoever comes up with WL's catchy slogan of the year. Constantly churning rally cries like 'hoslitalitarians' or 'a company that lasts forever' or 'A Players only' yet never improving the work environment. -Bottom line: absolutely lowest salary for the industry. 50 hour work weeks quickly turn into 60-70 hour work weeks. Insulting pay, no work life balance. Turnover never ends like a dog trying to catch its tail. A never ending cycle of people leaving. In the end, even the WL poster child eventually leaves. -Only people who thrive at WL are the kool-aid drinkers or the boomers who keep the white in White Lodging. No diversity in senior management of 2+ years with the company. -WL's management style is stuck in the 1990s and hotel budgets are stuck in the 2000s, along with your salary.

Pros

My career with White Lodging has been an incredible journey of growth, mentorship, and opportunity. I came to the company from a franchise chain restaurant background, bringing a strong foundation in service and operations, but White Lodging is where I truly developed as a hospitality leader. Over the past five years, I’ve been fortunate to be mentored by many talented leaders across the organization who continuously challenged and invested in my development. I started in Food & Beverage as a manager, progressed to AGM of the restaurant, transitioned into the role of Director of Housekeeping, and for the past two years have served as the Assistant General Manager of Courtyard. What I value most about my experience at White Lodging is the emphasis on internal growth, cross‑department development, and leadership coaching. The trust placed in me to lead across different disciplines has shaped me into a well‑rounded, people‑focused leader, and I’m proud of how much I’ve grown in such a short period of time.

Cons

I have nothing to note.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for your dedication to the Night Auditor role over 5-7 years — that kind of long-term commitment truly speaks volumes! We're glad to hear the workload felt manageable and that there was some breathing room built into the role. We also hear your feedback loud and clear: the night shift schedule is a real adjustment, and the repetitive nature of the work can be a challenge over time. Most importantly, your reminder to recognize the night audit team is one we take to heart. The work you and your colleagues do overnight keeps our operations running smoothly, and that deserves to be seen and appreciated. If you have further concerns you would like to share with us, we encourage you to contact our HR business partner at HRBP@whitelodging.com. Thank you again for the honest and constructive feedback — it helps us continue to improve the experience for our team members. We wish you all the best!
