Pros

Products, people and discounts benefits are amazing.

Cons

I'm not claiming to be the best and most consistent nor am I the poster child for anything, but I try to do my best with the environment given. The manager was the absolute worst, a terrible example for the sales associates and an apex of hypocrisy regarding "professionalism". The manager had a recurring issue with punctuality, and could be up to two hours late, with excuses such as I have lost my oyster card, or my phone has been stolen or I'm really tired so I'm going to be in later on during the day. A large amount of mysterious hours to claim back, it was never written on the rota, the manager would send a text before your shift to let you know s/he was claiming back her hours, so you basically you have no idea what time the manager would be in office. However a person can be ostracised for being 5-10 mins late, which is at times inevitable with security at Selfridges, due to the fact that most sales associates from concession stores do not have permanent lockers. An incredible amount of "unprofessional activities" such as the manager discussing and "casually mentioning " her/his distain towards staff members on the shop floor, or to the other sales associates before they start shifts together. No staff training, I had been there for 6 months at the time, and I was unaware of how to book out a delivery on the behalf of the company, faulty write-ups on the merret system, BSA's, so many small parts of information were overlooked. Communication was a major issue within store, information never got through to the whole team, minor details such as delivery changes, or even whenever an issue arose to where you may be at fault, its never discussed at that time, the manager resorts to passive aggressive tactics, to intentionally make you feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in her/his presence, and an obvious disconnect between management and sales team. I DO NOT feel as it is fair for a manager who is unable to cohere to their own beliefs, to inflict negative words and a negative environment for anyone else, I was made to feel uncomfortable right until the end and staff members around myself recognised this as well.

Pros

I loved my time at Whistles. The VP in the US is just amazing, she spends time nurturing the growth of her employees. since it was a small operation i felt like there was so much growth opportunity and the learning curve was major.

Cons

The operation was small, and the UK team ties the hands of the US team making it hard to operate seamlessly in a market that is very different from the UK. with that being said the VP of the company in the US is incredible and she goes above and beyond for her team and the companies growth. Honestly working with Danielle changed my life for the better.
